The New York Yankees: My First True Love

The New York Yankees are my team and my family's team.

I have basically grown up watching them.

They have had some of the best baseball players on the team. From Babe Ruth to Lou Gehrig to Yogi Bear to Mickey Mantle and so much more.

And, in total, they have won 27 World Series! Although, they haven't won any over this past couple of years.

They have the biggest rivalry with Boston Red Sox. These two teams have been rivals ever since The Yankees got Babe Ruth from The Red Sox. It was one of the biggest upsets in baseball.

Ever since then, The Yankees and The Red Sox have not liked each other.

Therefore, I do not like Boston Red Sox either.

I remember my very first Yankee game.

It was against the Baltimore Orioles.

I went with my family and long-time friends of ours. I didn’t know much about them at the time, but I knew one important person on the team named Derek Jeter. I absolutely loved him and still do. I feel like he is always going to be my favorite player in the major league.

Although they didn't win, it was still such a fun game to go to.

I also went to two other Yankee games.

One of them they won, and the other they lost.

So far, I've gone to three Yankee games in total, but my favorite of all three is when we went to the Yankee Stadium game in The Bronx of New York, and they played The Chicago White Sox. I went with my mom, dad and brother. We had an absolute blast.

However, The Yankees, unfortunately, lost that game 14-7.

Like I said, Derek Jeter is my favorite player ever. He was 18 years old when he first started on The Yankees. It was his first and only team. I remember when he had his 2,000 hit. I was sitting in my living room when I watched it.

That was such a great moment in his life, and mine.

He retired about two years ago when he was only 40.

I watched his last hit at Yankee stadium with tears in my eyes. It was such an "ah" moment when the crowd began clapping and yelling at the same time. Absolutely surreal.

He will always be my favorite player of any sports.

George Herman Ruth-Babe Ruth, The Great Bambino - people say he is one of the greatest baseball players to ever live.

And they would be right.

He had 714 home runs, 342 batting average, and 2,873 hits.

He lived a short, wonderful life.

Unfortunately, he died when he was only 53 years old from Esophageal cancer. Even though he died young, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest baseball players ever.

I have loved The Yankees from the very beginning and they will always be my first love.

It is such a fulfilling thing to know that there is something always to talk about at the dinner table with my family.

The New York Yankees will always be a special team to me.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
