Summer is definitely one of my favorite seasons, but my all-time favorite season of the year is coming: football season. You can catch me cheering for Auburn every Saturday in the student section at home games. Here are a few of my favorite things about Auburn football.
A is for Aubie
Everyone's favorite tiger, and kind of a big deal among college mascots.
B is for Bodda Getta
Does anyone really know what Bodda Getta means? Not really, but you'll still hear it coming from the student section every five minutes.
C is for Cam Newton
D is for Daniel Carlson
The best kicker in college football. Not only did he make almost every field goal last season, he also made a touchdown against Arkansas State. What a guy.
E is for Eagle
Sure I may be scared of birds, but I have a soft spot in my heart for Spirit and Nova.
F is for Fight Song
There's nothing better than hearing the band play this before every game.
G is for Game Day Buttons
Whether it be "*insert sorority here* loves the Tigers" buttons or just the one's they hand out at the bookstore, they are a must have to pin on your game day dress or Bo Jackson jersey.
H is for Hype Videos
These are played before every football game, and if you're not excited about the game, you will be after you watch these videos.
I is for Iron Bowl
Because most people in Alabama believe that the holiday that follows Thanksgiving isn't Christmas, but rather the Iron Bowl.
J is for Jordan-Hare Stadium
They say Disney is the happiest place on Earth, but I beg to differ.
K is for Kick Six
Something Auburn fans will never forget and neither will Alabama fans (mainly because we're always talking about it.)
L is for Lemonade
There's nothing better than drinking Toomer's lemonade on a Saturday in Auburn before a game.
M is for Malzahn
Gus is one of the few people that can pull of the sweater vest and coach a football team at the same time.
N is for National Championship
Okay so we don't have as many as that school in Tuscaloosa, but hey at least we'll always have 2010.
O is for "On the rolling plains of Dixie..."
Win or lose, one of my favorite things ever is singing the alma mater in the student section after a game.
P is for Pat Dye Field
Named after 1981-1992 Auburn head coach Pat Dye, this field has seen the entire student section rushing on to it after the 2013 Iron Bowl and has been a place so many football players have called a second home.
Q is for the Quad
The most convenient place you can live during football season since the stadium is right outside your window.
R is for Rolling Toomer's
Even thought the original oaks are gone, it's still fun to roll the trees after a win.
S is for Six Kicks
With the help of Daniel Carlson, that's all it took to beat LSU.
T is for Tailgating
You know it's almost game day when you get off the transit, and you see them putting up the white tents on the green space.
U is for Uproar
One of my favorite things about Auburn is the football student section. Everyone is always loud and cheering for our team even when the chances of winning the game aren't looking so good.
V is for Vincent Edward Jackson
Better known as Bo Jackson. You can catch about half the student section wearing a number 34 jersey on game day.
W is for War Eagle
One of my favorite things is hearing the entire stadium say "Waaaaar Eagle" at kickoff. It is also my favorite phrase that can be used in any situation. Won the football game? War eagle to that. Failed a test? War eagle to that, too.
X is for eXpect The Unexpected
Even if Auburn is losing the game, wait until the clock hits 0:00. A lot can happen in one second...
Y is for Yelling Voice
Because if you're not there to cheer for Auburn, then what are you doing?
Z is for Zero Parking.
There's never any parking in Auburn during any other time of the year, and this is made so much worse when there's people from all over coming to the game. You're better off walking, but trust me, it's worth it.
So if you've never been to an Auburn game, I would 10/10 recommend it.
