Do you have a long distance friendship? I do. One of my best friends lives approximately two and a half hours away from me. Although not being able to hang out with her every day sucks, it makes the times we do get to see each other even more special! As I've met up with my friend over the years I've discovered that there are things that happen every time we meet up.

1. When one of you suggests meeting up.

Of course you want to meet up! You haven't seen them in what feels like ages and the best part is you might be free next week!

2. When you still aren't sure your meet up will actually happen.

Obviously you both want to see each other, but will you? You each have busy lives, not to mention the fact that you live so far apart, and sadly getting to see each other is almost never on the agenda.

3. When your plans to meet up become definite.

Not only are you free next week, but so are they! Finally, the two of you will get to hang out with each other like normal friends!

4. When you just cant wait to see them.

In the days leading up to seeing them, you can not contain your excitement at getting to see your BFF again. After all, it's been months since you last saw each other, and you honestly feel like you cant wait a minute more.

5. Thinking of all the things you will do when you finally meet up.

All the time you spend waiting to see your BFF is spent planning every moment of their visit to make up for the time you've spent away from each other!

6. When the day finally comes.

Woohoo! You've waited all week for today, and it feels like a Friday in a week full of Mondays.

7. When time seems to slow down as you wait to see them.

For goodness sake, you've already waited all week, so why do the hours leading up to seeing them have to feel like eternity? Everything else about today seems unimportant and boring knowing that you get to see your best friend later.

8. When you see them.

Finally, their car pulls up! They hop out, and the long wait to see your best friend is over!

9. Running to meet them.

Normal people may walk up to greet on another, but not you and your best friend. The two of you run at each other like two football players trying to tackle one another. Honestly it's a miracle that my best friend and I haven't injured one another doing this.

10. Finally getting to hang out with them.

Finally, the two of you get to make up for lost time! After all, hanging out is what friends are supposed to do right?

11. Filling each other in on the things that have happened since you last saw each other.

One of my favorite parts of seeing my best friend is listening to all of the things that have been going on in their life and telling them all of the crazy things that have happened to me since we last saw each other. Whether its filled with laughter, tears or ranting communication is an important and wonderful part of any friendship!

12. Knowing that your time together is coming to a close.

In the last part of your visit, the excitement of seeing your best friend starts to recede while the dread of having to say goodbye starts to close in on your time together.

13. Having to say goodbye.

Goodbyes are the worst, especially goodbyes to your best friend.

14. Making plans for next time.

However, saying goodbye is much easier when you know when you will be saying hello to your best friend again!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
