To the overprotective men in my life,
Thank you for always making me feel protected and safe. Thank you for always being concerned with my safety and my feelings. You have always made it clear that I can come to you with any problem I may be having, and you would take care of it, especially if that problem was with a boy.
Dad, I'm sorry for always acting annoyed when you would ask me a million questions about the boy I was going to have dinner with. Thank you for being the best judge of character and always giving me your honest opinion on a boy even if it's the last thing I wanted to hear (you've saved me from a lot of losers with your good advice). Thank you for sending me text messages that look like this:
These messages always seem to make me laugh. I'm also really thankful you haven't been tempted to use any of your hunting weapons (yet).
To my older brother,
I think the worst day of your life was my first day of high school and when dating and relationships became a thing. Thank you for always protecting me from anything and everything that puts me in harm's way. I think by far my biggest challenge in life will be finding a boyfriend that you actually like. Either way, thank you for always being a phone call away if boys are ever being dumb. You always mention how you aren't afraid to go to prison for 25 years to life for murdering a guy who mistreats me; although I hope that never happens, it means a lot to have someone that cares as much as you do in my life.
I am forever grateful for the men who have made me feel safe, loved and protected throughout my entire life. Every girl deserves a man in her life that would go to the ends of the Earth to make her feel worthy and protected. There is no doubt in my mind that if every girl had a dad and brother like I do, the world would be a much better place.
As hard and as nerve racking as you both make it to bring a boy home, I wouldn't have it any other way. I've learned that at the end of the day, if a boy can pass all of your tests and criticisms, he must be a keeper. Thank you for never letting me lower my standards and for making me realize everything I deserve to have.
