"What should I wear? Do I sit in the back or the front? Should I bring any school supplies?" These are the thought's from countless students. Whether you are a freshman or a junior, we all have these thoughts. For the past four years, I haven't strayed from the usual tricks I use on my first day of school.
1. Wear clothes that are comfortable for your style.
I realize staying within the fashion trends like every other girl is important, but don't wear something you're going to be uncomfortable in. You want something you are going to be confident in and walk with your head held high through the double doors.
2. Get to school with enough time to find your classes.
Even if you are a senior, getting to school with 20 minutes to spare is never not a good idea. You can plan to get together with your friends and find your classes together and have a little friend reunion before your first period.
3. Sit where you want.
This is one of the most stressed out situations on the first day of school, but sit where you like to sit. Most of the time teachers already have seating charts either on the projector or on a piece of paper at the front of the class.
4. Be prepared.
Teachers will always do this and there is no way possible to get out of it. "Get to Know Me Activities" where we have to get into a group of people we don't talk to or we have to get in a circle and say our name and one interesting this about us.
5. Get your school supplies after your first day of school.
You don't want to be that student who is over prepared and has tons of extra school supplies they will never use. One, you are wasting your money and two, it's just gonna collect dust on your shelf.
While the first day of school is nerve wracking and you may not be ready for it, high school is a small period in your life. We won't remember much of what will happen and if we do, we will see the importance of the incident. The first day of school is a day we will always remember, so do what you want.
