Growing up in a small town has always had its perks and flaws. Flaws being everyone knows you, your parents, and your grandparents, so you don't get by with much. At the same time that also means that no matter where you go, you are safe because at least one person knows who you are. Everyone complains about the small town and how much they hate and want to leave. But I promise you a big town wouldn't come together like my small town has in the past week.
The last week sent my town for a loop. But during this loop my town united in prayer. Living in the south, we are a lot of Baptist. We worship two things; The Good Lord on Sunday and Cherokee Football on Friday night. As any other typical small town in the south. Well, when one of our players got hurt Monday night, I watched a town completely unite in prayer.
Fightfor5 is how this all started, our quarterbacks number is 5 and he has always been such a strong inspirational guy. Monday night he took a hit and came down and was hurt pretty bad. This shook our town, we have all watched this kid grow up and become such an aspiring ball player and human in general. When he went down, the small town of Rogersville stepped up and prayed endlessly to lift him back up.
We have kids of all ages praying together for our small town number 5. Parents and family members near and far praying. It is something words can't explain watching a entire community humble them self in front of The Lord in prayer. They even hosted a community prayer on the football practice field where people came together.
I have never been more proud of my small town. Fightfor5 brought a town divided by everything, together to pray. 1 Peter 3:8 says "Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble." This verse is the definition of Rogersville, Tennessee right now and that in itself tells you a lot about how awesome a small town can be!
Our number 5 still needs a lot of prayers, however, I have faith that God is taking care of him and is going to provide him with an awesome testimony.
Dear Lord,
I ask that you continue to watch over J.T. Lord just give him strength to keep fighting. Give the doctors the knowledge and guide their hands according to your will, Lord. Be with his family and his friends Lord, give them faith and peace knowing that Your will, will be done. In the bible it says, " I have heard your prayers and seen your tears. I will heal you" (2 Kings 20:5) I know you will do just that Lord! Heavenly Father, I just thank you for placing me in a small town that allows you to be where they turn to. Lord I'm coming to you today thanking you for everything you have done for my small town. And Lord I'm asking you to please Fightfor5 and take care of him like I know you will. In your heavenly name I pray.
-Amen
