If SEC Football Teams Were 'One Tree Hill' Characters

There is no question that Nathan Scott is Alabama.

Warning: "One Tree Hill" spoilers ahead

I spent nearly the entirety of last summer watching "One Tree Hill" on Netflix, because once I started it I simply couldn't turn it off. If you've seen the show, you know exactly what I mean. So you also know what I mean when I say that I was excited about comparing these characters to something else I love: SEC football. So, here goes nothing:

Nathan Scott: Alabama Crimson Tide

Okay, so maybe season one Nathan is a little arrogant and selfish, but it can truly be said that he has some of the best character development of all time. He isn't perfect, but he grows into a wonderful husband, father, basketball player and friend as the show goes on. He is the person that everyone looks to when they need deliverance, much like Alabama is the team that currently carries the SEC. It is true that Alabama fans are sometimes arrogant, and that Alabama isn't perfect, but let's be honest: they're the ones everyone wants to be like.

Clay Evans: Arkansas Razorbacks

Clay Evans doesn't win all of the time (like when he completely botches Nathan's contract), but he has come a long way from who he used to be. He even almost died but miraculously pulled through. Clay reminds me a great deal of the Razorbacks, who certainly don't always win, but still manage to keep the hopes of the Razorback faithful alive with some miracles (think of the 4th down play against Ole Miss in 2015).

Taylor James: Auburn Tigers

Oh, Taylor. When she shows up in Tree Hill, you know that bad things are about to happen. She has a few redeeming moments, but mostly everyone just wishes she would go away. As an Alabama student, I usually feel the exact same way about Auburn.

Quinn James: Florida Gators

Quinn James is a fighter who gets stronger with every situation she goes through (her mother's death, a divorce and a gunshot wound just to name a few). The Gators seem to be the same way. They may have had to fire Will Muschamp and suspend a star QB in 2015, but they've still managed to make it to the SEC Championship two years in a row. Also, I have to say that Quinn James belongs in Florida because she looks really good in a swimsuit.

Lucas Scott: Georgia Bulldogs

Lucas is far from perfect, but he seems to always have good intentions. It is hard not to root for him, and also hard not to get emotional when things don't go well for him. The same is true of the Georgia Bulldogs. Things haven't been going great for them under their new head coach, but you have to hope that they'll improve with time. It is difficult not to root for them.

Jamie Scott: Kentucky

I love Kentucky. So young, so cute, so fresh (in football — basketball is another story). Much like the adorable Jamie Scott, they have a lot of learning to do, but they are on their way to success.

Deb Scott: LSU Tigers

First she seemed normal, then she was on drugs, then she dated her son's classmate, then she became Jamie's nanny. Basically, Deb Scott is completely unpredictable, much like LSU. They fired Les Miles in the middle of the season and had a solid game against Alabama, but lost to teams they shouldn't have like the Auburn Tigers. Oh LSU, never change.

Skillz: Mississippi State

I can't lie, I just put these two together because I feel like Skillz would really enjoy all of the cowbells. He would also be a huge Dak Prescott fan.

Brooke Davis: Missouri Tigers

Brooke Davis is undoubtedly one of the greatest characters in One Tree Hill. While she is a great cheerleader, I have no doubt that she isn't very interested in other sports. This reminds me of Mizzou, a great school that just has a little trouble keeping up with other SEC teams sometimes. Much like Brooke does in One Tree Hill, they'll probably find their way eventually.

Dan Scott: Ole Miss Rebels

Dan Scott is the character that everyone loves to hate, though he somewhat redeems himself at the end of the show. He also pays for every bad deed he commits, much like the Rebels, who are currently facing NCAA sanctions. Let's hope they can be redeemed like Dan.

Peyton Sawyer: Tennessee

Peyton is sad for much of the show, which reminds me of how Tennessee fans have likely been feeling for the last couple of years. Even though the Vols seem to have all the tools for success, they can't seem to make success happen. Also, I'm surprised Butch Jones doesn't have a webcam.

Julian: Texas A&M Aggies

First of all, Julian would look great in one of those cadet uniforms. Secondly, Julian doesn't seem to like football too much, and I'm not so sure that the Aggies do either as of late. After a couple of years of struggling to get W's, lets hope they can scrounge some up this season.

Karen: South Carolina Gamecocks

Karen is one of the strongest characters on the show. She deals with Dan's betrayal, Keith's death, Lucas' dramatic teenage years and an unexpected pregnancy that goes horribly wrong. This reminds me of South Carolina, who has managed to survive without Steve Spurrier and even had a few unexpected wins along the way. Also, Karen probably served chicken at her cafe, which the Gamecocks would appreciate.

Haley James Scott: Vanderbilt

Haley James Scott's second love was Nathan, but her first love was being nerdy. She also had a bit of an interest in sports because of her relationship with Nathan. I think she would've been a perfect fit at Vanderbilt because she reminds me a lot of their team, who is not only academically successful, but also fairly good at football.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
