Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Christmas music, Christmas movies, the holiday scents, and spending time with your family and friends. It's always a huge countdown to the big day... but after that day has passed, what do we look forward to?
As the New Year approaches, we frantically try to figure out what to do with these days in between. And during this time period, we realize a lot.
1. I have no money.
Chances are, you overspent on gifts this season and now have no money left to pay your bills or get groceries. Maybe your brother didn't need that $200 gaming system.
2. I have to take that tree down...
How in the world am I going to take this tree down by myself? And where am I even going to store it for a whole year?
3. I have to remove all this Christmas music now.
You added a bunch of holiday tunes to your playlist but now, just the sound of jingle bells will make you cringe.
4. I have to go back to my daily routine.
You got extremely used to having a whole day to relax and do whatever you please. It's not going to be fun stepping into your first shift after the break.
5. I have to go on a diet.
The parents and grandparents made so much food, and you surely ate too much of it. Plus, you had leftovers three nights in a row and now are paying the price.
6. I won't see my family for awhile.
It's that bittersweet feeling of going home, but then having to go back. As much as family drama sucks, it sucks, even more, being away from them for long periods of time.
7. I have to take all these decorations down.
It was super exciting to put them up, but taking them down is a whole different story. It's tiring and pointless. Why did I even put them up to begin with?
8. I won't get to experience this again for a whole year.
Doesn't it suck that we don't get a Christmas in July? Waiting a whole year for the holidays to come again is too long.
As amazing as Christmas is, it can also bring about some seasonal depression after it passes. Going back to your lonely, messy apartment after a few days of endless fun and food is sure to tug at your heartstrings. Make the best of it, and try to take down that Christmas tree before February.
