11 Struggles Of Waiting Till December To Be Excited For Christmas

Halloween is over, and now it’s no longer acceptable to watch “Hocus Pocus” everyday, so what’s next? What will fill this empty hole in your life that was filled with pumpkin spice lattes and all things spooky just days ago? Christmas of course! It may only be the first week of November, but I’m already singing Christmas carols in the shower, and quoting “Elf” every chance I get.

Most people believe it is socially unacceptable to be excited for Christmas before December even starts, but how can I contain my excitement? I mean, this is CHRISTMAS were talking about. Here’s to everyone who is like me, and gets excited for Christmas well before the season officially begins. You know who you are.

1. You have to keep it a secret when you get excited to see Christmas aisles re-appear in stores.

And you hate when your friends get angry at the stores for it being “too soon”.

2. You still have to pretend to be mad when you see those people who keep their decorations up year round.

It might not be acceptable in July, but it sure saves them time decorating in November.

3. Patiently waiting for the moment when the Pillsbury Christmas cookies hit stores.

And then you will buy all of them. And eat all of them.

4. You have been mentally preparing your Christmas list for months and can't wait to write it all down.

So many ideas, so little time. Can Santa afford all of this??

5. You have already started to obsess over the 25 Days of Christmas Schedule.

And try to clear your schedule in order to watch all of your favorite shows.

6. You can't let anyone know that you are already planning your trip to the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.

Could it get any more basic? But you don’t care.

7. The Christmas Instagram ideas are already flowing through your mind.

*Insert a picture of you at Rockefeller Center* with the caption “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”.

8. You can't let anyone find the Christmas countdown on your phone.

How could you not have one?!

9. You are already window shopping for potential gifts you will get people.

But, then you come to terms with the fact that you can’t afford all of those gifts.

10. Unlike all of your friends, you are actually looking forward to it snowing.

Until it actually does, and then you will wish for warm weather again.

11. You have already begun counting down the days until you can watch “Elf,” “Home Alone,” and so many more great Christmas movies.

And quoting them every single time you possibly can.

So, it might still be November. But nothing can stop me from being excited for Christmas. I guess we’ll all just have to secretly be excited until it’s finally December.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
