Girls, it's that time of year again! No, not Valentine's Day. No, not the newest season of "The Bachelor." It's the Super Bowl! Please, please calm down, hold your excitement. I know you can hardly contain it. It is that time of year when a bunch of jersey-wearing guys squeezed in front of a TV. One side of the couch rooting for team A and the other fighting for team B. Me, I'm fighting for the Sunday evening festivities to be over, so I can eat the leftover wings (if there are any). While the Super Bowl may not be my favorite part of the new year, there are some positives that come my way.
1. The Commercials
After the Super Bowl, I will literally just Google a YouTube video of all the commercials that were played. This spares me watching the game, and I get to contribute to any Super Bowl "talk" the following week.
"Did you guys see that touchdown?"
"No, no guys, did you see Amy Schumer's commercial?"
2. The Food
Oh my gosh, my mouth is watering just thinking about the annual Super Bowl spread. Buffalo Chicken Dip, wings, football-related pastries (football cake pops, anyone?); the list of good food is endless. Everyone else's Super Bowl may be Broncos vs. Panthers, but mine is Emma vs. food... who will win?
3. Did I Mention the Food?
The food is too good not to be talked about twice. Okay, so maybe I only go to the Super Bowl parties for the food, but isn't that why guys go to office parties? Like, that is the best excuse to eat like crap for a night.
4. The Halftime Show
BEYONCE. GO QUEEN B!
Enough said.
5. The Tight Pants
For the moments I am watching the game, I'm not watching the game. (Know what I mean?) Boys like yoga pants? Girls like football pants. Whoever this player is in this gif, thank you.
6. Knowing One Player this year
Okay, so this year, I actually know someone that's on the field, other than Lady Gaga singling the National Anthem. Michael Oher. His story brought me one of my favorite movies, "The Blind Side." Since I know him, I guess I'll root for him. Honestly, I don't even know which team he's on; I just know he's on one.
With the Super Bowl over and done, I had all of those things come my way, and it was great. I'll be eating wings and pizza for the rest of this week, and I couldn't be happier. Woo, go team! Football yeah!
