Why PC Culture Is Getting Ridiculous

The recent targeting of Ellen Degeneres by the PC Police is a sign of a frightening trend

Ellen Degeneres recently came under fire this week after tweeting a photo shopped picture of herself riding the back of the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt with the caption “This is how I’m running errands from now on.” Little did the talk show host, and equality advocate, know that the PC police were armed and ready on twitter with their keyboards to shame her into next week.

The comedian was berated for her “insensitivity,” because; how dare she make a joke where she is riding the back of a black man to run errands as if he were her slave?

While this kind of stupidity is what we’ve grown to expect from social justice warriors, it is truly a scary thing. Now, the joke isn’t the only thing flying over their heads, reality is too.

The fact of the matter is, there is nothing offensive about that joke. There is no racist themes, intentions or undertones in the joke’s meaning. And that meaning of the joke is that Usain Bolt is fast, that’s it!

If the sprinter were white, there would be no scandal, no controversy, just laughter. But he’s black, so we needed the PC police to rush to his defense and shame Ellen Degeneres, a woman who has been doing comedy for about as long as she has been advocating equality for everyone.

This story puts on display a new and frightening trend in political correctness. That trend is that it doesn’t matter if what was said is actually offensive, or if the person or group in question is actually offended. All that matters, is how something looks or sounds. And not even to everyone, but a select group of people who are so engulfed in their beliefs that they will stop at nothing to censor anything that they deem to be offensive, racist, sexist, prejudice or just wrong. What makes them think they know better? Who put them in charge? But most of all, what’s next?

The agenda of the PC police seems to be to protect everyone from these prejudices by restricting the free speech of everyone regardless of whether or not what was said was actually wrong. If Ellen Degeneres, a comedian who has done so much to support equality for all people can be shamed as a racist for a joke that clearly had absolutely nothing to do with race, then we are in real trouble. Who will the PC police target next, and for what reason? Logic, and sense have been thrown off the table in favor of the feelings of a small group of people who claim to know better. PC culture is spiraling out of control, and it will not stop unless we decide to put a stop to it.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
