Society Is Offended By Everything

Let's just be nice!

It seems like every other second someone is offended by something. When did society get so sensitive to people not believing in the same things? When did society become so obsessed with being politically correct? Can we not just respect other people's views and the fact that some people do not think the same way as you do?

There is nothing wrong with exercising your right to free speech. Speak your mind, but do not verbally attack someone because you cannot handle hearing an opinion that is not yours. It is a crazy world that we live in, with tons of controversial issues. Instead of educating the public on opposing views, we have social media, like Facebook, filtering political views so you only see what matches yours. This is pathetic.

How can you fully support one view if you are not educated on the opposing views? Unfortunately, everyone in the world cannot think alike, but it is important that we learn to respect other people's opinions even if you do think it is heinous. I see posts daily about people losing friends because they have opposing opinions.

This has become a world of hateful people. I feel like every Facebook post/tweet is a ticking time bomb until someone is offended by the wording of one sentence. I would not be surprised if someone was offended by this article, but there is only so much I can do at this point.

There are awful tragedies happening all over the world right now. Almost every day on the news, I see a reported hate crime. Is anyone's ignorant opinion worth fighting, or, even worse, killing over? There are some things that just need to be agreed to disagree on. However, we also need to learn to stop jumping to conclusions and assuming the intentions of people. At the end of the day, the sensitivity and hatred levels are obscene. I hate to sound naive, but can’t we all just get along?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
