An Open Letter To My Long Distance Best Friend

To my long distance best friend:

Thank you for everything. There are no words I can form that can thank you enough. You are the ultimate definition of a true friend. You have been there through thick and thin, through the toughest of times. I'm confident in saying I have one of the best friendships this world can offer, one that can withstand a 869 mile separation and grow even stronger since. We easily could have let this ruin our friendship, but instead we let it make us stronger. Instead of constantly looking out for the negatives and dwelling on the distance, we found the positives: more places to visit, things to see, experiences to share. We went from spending every day together to spending a few days out of the year together. I have learned to treasure the time we spend together, regardless of how long it may be.

Every single time we see each other, there's always something new, from meeting each other's boyfriends for the first time, from finally being able to go on road trips together. Every moment spent together is another memory in the making. Your house is a home away from home, for me & your family is just an extension of my own. In the last five years, we've survived heartbreak, distance, among many other things, but the most important thing being that we stayed by each others side, through it all. If our friendship has endured this much, I am absolutely confident that our future will be bright. Exploring Boston together, aimlessly following my mom on a road trip together, flying out for my graduation party; your visits have brought me so much happiness. Regardless of what you think, you deserve the best, you are beautiful and have such an amazing personality (PS any guy that doesn't appreciate that will hear it from me). Anyways, your encouragement and support has gotten me through so much. I can't wait to be your maid of honor and reminisce on all of this years from now.

Thank you for being such a selfless, supportive, and trustworthy friend. I am so grateful for you.
