An Open Letter To Every Girl Looking For Love
Scott Zettlemoyer

To the girl who is looking for love,

As little girls, we dream of our Prince Charmings, our own fairy tales. We grow up and meet guys who just don't fit the gentleman image we envisioned. As teenagers, we realize we're young, but we're just excited for true love. You may get to the point where you feel like giving up on love and think true love doesn't exist. However, you may want to consider the type of guys you keep dating. It is cliche, but true; when you meet your "Mr. Right" you'll know. You just need to look for the right type of guys. They may be endangered, but there are gentlemen that still exist. Chivalry is not dead.

Look for the guy who picks you up on the first date.

It seems to be a common thing now for a girl and guy to just meet somewhere and "hang." This is not a date. A proper date is a guy coming to pick you up and drives you to a restaurant or the movie theater. However, in this day and age, you may be worried about a new guy coming to your house. That is understandable. The guy should at least offer to pick you up and if you are uncomfortable then that is okay. If he just assumes he's picking you up this is a good sign.

He should open doors for you.

Whether it be the car door, restaurant door, it doesn't matter. It is just a sign of respect that men should show to women. Do not tell him to do this. If he was raised right and knows how to treat a lady. He will do this without you asking.

He should pay.

This is a very controversial part of dating, but the guy should pay. If things are still going well and you become exclusive then you can offer to pay or at least split the bill. If the guy doesn't take the bill at the end of the first date then that should be the last date.

Meet his family and friends.

If after a while of dating (usually exclusively) you don't meet his parents or any of his friends, that's a red flag. If he sees you and him together long-term then he will introduce you to his parents. He's probably already told all his friends about you (since guys are just as bad as girls sometimes) so he's sure to introduce you to them.

He should send you small gifts.

Gentlemen will give or send you small gifts that tell you that your own his mind. Simple things like a rose, your favorite candy or even a cute text can reassure you of his feelings.

He should give you his jacket when it's cold.

Picture this, you and your man just stepped outside and it's cold. You're chilly, but you don't have a jacket. Your man immediately takes of his jacket and puts it over your shoulders without you saying a word. This is what a gentlemen does ladies. He puts your well being and needs (as simple as you being cold) over his.

He should pump your gas.

I actually see this chivalrous act happen a lot and it should continue. Again, you should not have to ask your man to get out and pump your gas he should automatically do it.

He should kiss your forehead.

You see it in movies, that super sweet moment when the guy kisses his girl's forehead. A simple kiss on the forehead says, "I care for you." If he gives you butterflies when he does this, you'll know he's a keeper.

Don't give up on love. Men mature much slower then females and many have lost the habits of being a gentleman, but there are still some chivalrous guys out there. You may not have find one yet, but you will. Don't settle for a guy who doesn't care to ever pay for the date or the one who won't introduce you to his family. You are worth way more than that and should find the guy who treats you as if you were a princess. Believe me, when you're least expecting he'll show up in your life. Take it from me, I have found my Prince Charming and you will too. You'll have your happily ever after.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
