Every summer, I put some sort of bucket list together and I like to try to accomplish as much as I can. Usually, I only accomplish about three or four things on my list. My summers are pretty hectic with working two jobs, helping family out and not to mention making time for my old high school friends (that I rarely ever see.)
However, I have done some pretty cool things thanks to these lists. I have accomplished list items like getting an internship and learning how to ride a horse.
Along with working at the local grocery store and a racetrack this summer, I will also be attending two weddings, getting my tonsils removed and taking a summer class. Even though I will be busy, I am determined to complete everything on my 2016 list.
This year, I have about 15 items to complete in three months. If you're looking for a good time this summer, I encourage you to write and complete your own summer bucket list. Here is my list!
1. Take a picture every day for the summer
From May 8 to Aug. 21, I want to take a photo every day and put it on my SnapChat account. This way, I am able to look back on my summer adventures.
2. Roadtrip with friends
I just want to pack a bag, get in my car and cruise. Maybe even venture to Wisconsin Dells.
3. Go through my closet
I would like to finally go though my closet and donate all of the clothes that I don’t wear anymore. I have been saying I want to do this since my senior year and I still have yet to do it.
4. Re-design my room
I have not redone my room since third grade. Every time I go home I feel like I’m stepping back in time.
5. Decorate/refurbish furniture for my apartment
I am finally “adulting” and getting my very own apartment for next year. I would like to check out garage sales and find some vintage furniture and redecorate it.
6. Go to a baseball game
I love baseball! Besides hockey, it is my favorite sport. I would love to catch some games this year.
7. Either run or walk a marathon
I would like to get in shape this summer and run… Let’s be real: I hate running. I want to fast walk a marathon!
8. Take a trip to California
Some of my best friends live in Cali! I would love to take a mini adventure and go and visit them for a few days.
9. Sleep under the stars
I’ve been camping before, but I actually want to sleep outside with nothing over my head and just the open beautiful sky.
10. Play the penny game
Designate heads as right and tails as left, get in your car and when you hit a stop sign, flip the coin and go wherever it directs you to. You will definitely end up in some little dinky town.
11. Get lost in some city and just explore
I live in Minnesota and I’ve been to the cities, but I have yet to actually explore them.
12. Do an entire jigsaw puzzle...and actually finish it
I always start puzzles, but my mom usually finishes them because I get bored.
13. Egg painting
Put a small hole in an egg without breaking the whole shell, dump the contents of the shell out and fill with crafting paint, go outside and throw paint filled eggshells at a canvas. This will be the new water balloon fight... just wait and see!
14. Grow a garden and cook using only what I can grow
My family always grows a garden but this year I want to be more involved. I love to cook and I think it would fun to experiment with recipes.
15. Go to Minnesota's largest candy store
Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store is only 25 minutes away from my house and I have yet to go there.
Every year I try to make every summer more fun than the previous summer. Even though I have a lot on my plate these next three months, I cannot wait to do the things on my bucket list. Cross you fingers because I am determined to complete this list!
