About Penny:

  • Age: 1.5 years old
  • Weight: 12 lbs
  • Where they were born: Pueblo, CO (I think...)
  • Favorite food: She will eat almost ANYTHING. The cat food she likes best is Blue Buffalo
  • Current location: Colorado Springs, CO
  • Nicknames: Penn, Pen Pal, Pennini
  • Best friend: S'mores the hamster or Michael (my son)
  • Favorite toy: Her little ball toys with bells inside...especially in the middle of the night...

5 Random Facts About Penny:

1. She was pregnant and a stray when she was picked up by the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region!

2. She is a calico cat, and even has her colors on her paws and nose! I personally love her little orange dot on her nose.

3. She LOVES to take naps with my 10 month old son

4. She will fall asleep anywhere. One time she fell asleep on top of an open tool kit!

5. She loves to look at my hamster, but won't try to eat her. They're buddies.

3 Places They Love To Go With Their Human:

1. The bathroom. Every single time without fail, she will follow me in to the bathroom.

2. My bedroom. Every night when I'm heading to bed, she is right behind me and will cuddle up right next to me when I go to sleep.

3. The kitchen. Being the cat she is, she will go to the kitchen with me in case I drop a crumb of food. She will eat almost anything...even baby formula powder (ew).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
