The U.S Men's team is ranked in second in the Preliminaries in Pool A along with Italy ranked first, France in the third, Canada in fourth, Brazil in fifth, and Mexico in the sixth. The Men's Olympic Volleyball team started off their 2016 Rio Olympics with a loss to Canada followed by a win against Netherlands, a loss against Italy, and three consecutive wins against Brazil, France, and Mexico. Recently on August 15, the United States Men's Olympic Volleyball team had an overwhelming victory against Mexico to advance to the Quarterfinals (25-23, 25-11, 25-19). Now here is your Men's 2016 Olympic Volleyball Team:
1. Matt Anderson (Opposite and OH, #1) Age: 29
At 6'9, he began his National team career with the United States in 2007. He has won Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013, MVP in 2013 in the NORCECA Championship, MVP in the Russian League in 2014, MVP in the FIVB World Cup and Player of the Year in 2015.
2. Aaron Russell (Outside Hitter, #2) Age: 23
At 6'9, Russell started his National team career with the United States in 2014. In 2014 he was presented as the "Best Spiker" in the World Championship Qualifier and to be the U.S' Men's team's youngest athlete to earn a Gold Medal. In 2015 in the FIVB World Cup he won the title of Leading Scorer in final three matches.
3. Taylor Sander (Outside Hitter, #3) Age: 24
At 6'4, Sander started his National Team Career with the United States in 2012. He played for BYU, and is a four-time AVCA All-American, the 2014 AVCA Player of the Year, 2013 & 2014 MPSF Player of the Year and MSPF MVP, and four-time MSPF First Team.
4. David Lee (Middle Blocker, #4, Team USA's Captain) Age: 34
At 6'8, Lee started his National Team Career with the United States in 2003. In 2011 he was NORCECA Volleyball Championship "Best Blocker" and 2014 World League "Best Middle Blocker".
5. Micah Christenson (Setter, #11) Age: 23
At 6'6, Christenson started his National Team career with the United States in 2013. In 2013 he won the NORCECA Championship's title of "Best Setter" and "Best Server" and 2015 FIVB World Cup's Best Setter.
6. Erik Shoji (Libero, #22) Age: 26
At 6'0 Shoji began his National Team career with the United States as a Libero in 2013. He's earned in 2007 in the FIVB U19 World Championship's Best Digger and in 2015 FIVB World Cup's Best Digger.
7. Kawiki Shoji (Setter, #7) Age: 28
At 6'6 Shoji began his National Team career with the United States as a setter in 2011.
8. Reid Priddy (Outside Hitter, #8) Age: 38
At 6'4 Priddy began his career on the United States Men's National Team in 2000. In 2000 he earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association first-team All-American honors as a Senior and in 2013 he was the MVP in the of the Men's CEV Cup 2012-2013 with Halkbank Ankara.
9. Murphy Troy (Opposite, #9) Age: 27
At 6'8, Troy started his career on the United States Men's National team in 2011. In 2014/2015 he was the Top Scorer in the Plus Liga and in 2015 he was the Best Server in the Polish Cup.
10. Thomas Jaeschke (Outside Hitter, #10) Age: 22
At 6'7, Jaeschke started his career on the United States Men's National team in 2015. Was named the AVCA Player of the Year in 2015.
11. Max Holt (Middle Blocker, #17) Age: 29
At 6'9, Holt began his career on the United States National Team in 2010. In 2013 he earned the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup title of "Best Middle Blocker" and in 2015 earned the FIVB World League title of "Best Middle Blocker".
12. David Smith (Middle Blocker, #20) Age: 31
At 6'7 Smith began his career on the United States National Team in 2009. He was named Best Blocker in the World Championship Qualifier in 2009. What's Unique about player David Smith was that he was born nearly deaf and plays with his hearing aids and reads his teammates lips.
