This is a letter to my siblings; a letter to the people that have been with me since the day I was born. I am lucky enough to have two older brothers, and an older sister. I might not realize how lucky I am all the time, but I consider it a privilege to be your little sister. I am the youngest, and I love being the youngest. I am blessed to have three loving, protective, fun, and inspiring siblings. I don't tell them that I love them everyday, but I should. I should tell them that I love them and let them know all the happiness and success that I hope for them everyday. Here is a letter for me to convey this to them, and a letter for anyone else with siblings- I hope you can relate.
Dear Patrick, Susannah and Joseph,
After nine long months, you three were blessed with my presence, and in turn, I was blessed with yours. You helped take care of me and teach me all I needed to know. As I got a little older, we became friends as well as siblings, instead of just siblings. I was no longer just your little sister, I was your friend, playmate, test subject, target and even victim. We grew up in a neighborhood where we could run outside barefoot, catch fireflies, get ice cream from the ding ding man, swing on swings, play with neighbor kids, make stunt videos, cause shenanigans, and have fun together.
I may have been left behind a few times, but I always found my way back to you as your annoying little sister. Our childhood was the best we could have asked for, and I am so glad that I got to spend it with you three. Our Oregon road trips, our daily adventures, and our bedtime stories with mom and dad were the best because we were all together.
We got older and we were not so together anymore. We went our separate ways as we went to high school and college. We may not have been as close as we were when we were kids, but that is because we were growing up and doing our own things, but that didn't mean we did not need each other anymore. You have always been my big brother, or my big sister, and I have always needed you and I will always need you. I will always need the care you have given me, the lessons you have taught me, the ways you have inspired me, and the love you have shown me.
I believe we have only gotten closer as we have gotten older, and I am so glad that we are close once more. I don't know what I would do without your ears, adventures, smiles, laughs, stories, support, inspiration, and love. You have been three of my biggest inspirations and role models, even if you never realized. You three have helped make me the person I am today. Without you, I do not know who I would be.
You have taught me to see the beauty in everything, and everyone.
You have taught me to look at the world from a different perspective and see everything there is to see.
You have taught me to work hard and never give up on my dreams.
You have taught me that everyone makes mistakes, and that is okay .
You have taught me to be adventurous and try new things.
You have taught me to love everything I do.
And you have inspired me to be a better person, and love the people in my life.
You have always been there for me, and I will always be there for you. Here I am, your little baby sister, far away from the three of you in college. Time flies when you're having fun. I can't believe I am almost done with my first year of college. Even as your baby sister, I can be proud of you. You three have accomplished so much and I am so proud of you. I can't wait to see where you go in life, because I know you are going far and wide.
I have always wanted the utmost happiness for you. You deserve love, happiness, and so much more. I look forward to the rest of our lives together; there are so many more adventures to come! I do not say this as much as I should - I love you. I love you so much that words cannot describe. And thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me. You have been with me since day one, and I am so grateful for everything.
Love always,
Your little sister
