Self-respect is the most crucial aspect of a women’s life. If we can’t understand how to appreciate ourselves and our worth, how do we expect others to? Ladies, most men (not all) want one thing and one thing only. So why are we continuing to give ourselves to someone who doesn’t give a damn about us at the end of the day? It has to stop. We have to stop allowing this to happen. We have to stand up for ourselves and our body because if we don’t, we will never get the respect we deserve.
We need to stop justifying ourselves as that “rebound girl” or that late-night “booty call.” He just ended things with someone who at one point was his whole world and very well still could be, yet he calls you. Stop answering. Stop letting him use you. He doesn’t want to be in relationship with you, he doesn’t want to cuddle with you right after and he doesn't want all the responsibilities that come with respecting you first. He wants you to have sex with him and then leave. That’s all you are to him. Stop. Stop letting him use you. You’re beautiful, so why is it so hard for you to demand the respect you deserve? Why is it so hard for you to walk away? You need to learn that self-respect comes first, and if you aren’t respecting yourself now, men never will.
So if you truly want others to respect you, you have to learn to respect yourself first. Make others treat you as you deserve to be treated, and here’s how you can start.
1. Get to know yourself
The more you understand yourself, the more you’re able to appreciate how unique you really are. The more you discover, the more you value yourself and the decisions you make.
2. Forgive yourself
If you want to respect yourself, you have to be able to forgive yourself for the things you’ve done in the past that you may not be proud of. Admit you did wrong and move forward with your life.
3. Build your confidence
Self-respect is difficult if you’re not happy with who you are. Building true confidence takes work, and it all starts with learning to love and accept yourself.
4. Stop following the crowd
Don’t feel bad if you’re the only one that’s single. Maintain your standards and work on those goals you’re trying to achieve. It’s much more impressive succeeding at what you’re doing than following the path everyone else is on.
5. Believe in your choices
If you want to respect yourself, then you have to believe in the decisions you’ve made. You have to be firm with your beliefs and never let anyone make you question them.
Now ladies, go out there and treat yourselves with the respect you deserve. We are all beautiful in our own way, and we don’t need to take off our clothes to prove that to anyone.
