Hello…It’s me… I was wondering if after all of these weeks you’d like to meet. To go over everything, THAT I SAID IN MY LAST ARTICLE!! Roger Goodell it’s me, Maggie Tabone and I am back because obviously you didn’t get my last Odyssey article. Not sure how many times this needs to be said, but I guess I will keep talking about it until you decide to take a stand.
“Johnny Football”, ugh, yes I use quotes around his nickname because I believe it is a disgrace to the game of football. For those of you that don’t know, Johnny Manziel was indicted this week based on, surprise, surprise domestic violence. According to ESPN, he was charged with misdemeanor assault, and if found guilty he could spend up to a year in jail and pay a $4,000 fine. Johnny Football has been accused by his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley of physically attacking her and threatening to kill her in late January. There is a protective order in place against Manziel that requires the Heisman Trophy Winner to stay away from Crowley for two years and be at least 500 feet away from her home and workplace. Johnny Football is expected to turn himself in and be present for booking.
Johnny Manziel has been a spoiled brat since his days in College Station. The following events are just highlights of Johnny’s behavior since 2012. Manziel, attended Texas A&M before he declared for the NFL draft in 2014. According to Sports Day, Mr. Manziel was arrested in June of 2012 in College Station for carrying fake identification and was involved in a fight. In January 2013, after winning the Cotton Bowl, Johnny posted a picture on Instagram with a lot of cash and captioned it “casino ballin.” He deleted the post but later sent out a tweet that said “Nothing illegal about being 18+ in a casino and winning money…KEEP HATING!” Yikes, nothing worse than an arrogant football player. In August 2013, he is accused of signing items for cash. There was little evidence of Johnny doing anything against the rules, so as a result he was only suspended for the first half of the season opener.
On May 8th 2014, Manziel was drafted 22nd overall by the Cleveland Browns.
We all hoped that Johnny would maybe, you know, get a clue when he finally made it to the big stage…but our dreams were soon crushed because his immature shenanigans followed him to the NFL. About a month after being drafted Johnny had a few pictures of his partying lifestyle surface in the media. Then, a video showed up of him screaming “I can’t hear you, there’s too much money in my [explicit] hand.” Wow so classy. Not a great way to start your NFL career… Thank God Johnny isn’t my son. In August 2014 he was fined for the first time by the Browns for showing up late to a team meeting. One week later, the Heisman Trophy Winner was fined for giving the middle finger to the Redskins bench He was passed over for the starting quarterback position after this incident. In December 2014, Johnny is caught partying with a teammate and missed a team walk through the next day. Again partying in Texas in January 2015, Manziel gives the middle finger to party goers that are giving him a hard time (He should really learn to put that thing away). February 2015, Johnny enters rehab to attempt to get a handle on his life outside of football.
I am just here to state the facts. It’s up to the judge and jury to figure out if Johnny Manziel is innocent on the domestic violence charges. He’s known to consume alcohol and party all while lying about his unhealthy behaviors, only for photo evidence to creep up and bite him in the behind. Mr. Manziel, or should I say “Money Manziel” (insert excessive eye rolling here), has seemed to never have a problem saying what’s on his mind, without filtering. He also seems to throw his middle finger around quite carelessly. Johnny’s immaturity and carelessness does not make him a productive teammate, let alone a quality person. I for one, have always thought Johnny was a punk. This kid literally has it all and he is pissing it away. He just has to shut up, and act responsibly, is it really that hard? Again, I am just explaining Johnny’s past, not here to say he is guilty on these charges, it’s for the professionals to decide. I am just here to say that Johnny’s got one too many strikes in my book.
Back to you Mr. Goodell. I know Johnny Manziel has not been proven guilty or innocent but yet again here we are, another woman in America accusing one of your “employees” (I use quotes because I know he is not currently with an NFL team) of domestic violence. Please, stop the madness, it’s sickening. I am going to continue to write, beg, bother, annoy you, whatever you want to call it because I am sick of you being spineless. Like I said in my last article to you, (yeah the one you obviously didn’t read) you have an incredible platform in front of you and you don’t get it, your power is limitless. Take a stand. You don’t understand what it’s like to be a woman. To constantly look behind you while walking across campus, is that man following me? Or am I just being paranoid? We have to know our surroundings at all times. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means saying women are weak, but there is a huge physical strength difference between your average female and the average male. Then put on top of it that your employees are freak athletes who can lift an insane amount of weight and whose muscles are incredibly developed. Again, I am speaking on behalf of our mothers, sisters, cousins, friends, who don’t have a voice. You will continue to hear from me until I get an answer from you, or start to see changes. I would ask you to stand up and be a man, but I am just not quite sure that you’re capable of that.
