I'm Not Voting In The 2016 Election And Here's Why

I'm Not Voting In The 2016 Election And Here's Why

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I understand that. As an American we are given the right to vote, but I am not.

I do not believe that either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will be able to run this country for the next four years; if one of them does get elected it just won't last. If I were to vote for Trump it would be so that Clinton would not get elected and if I were to vote for Clinton it would be so that Trump would not get elected. Therefore, I do not see where my voting would help because I myself do not believe in either of them.

After watching Trump and Clinton go head to head at the first Presidential Debate of the year I can't wait for the next one to come around, but not for the reason you would be expecting.

Watching the debate I sat around with my friends laughing. It honestly felt more like I was watching a reality TV show rather than a presidential debate. Between Clinton beating around the bush and Trump turning every answer into having to do with himself I honestly don't know what was more enjoyable to listen to. Trump took on the questions asked but made the answers about him rather than our country which that will not help him. Whereas Clinton did not outright answer the exact questions that were directed towards her which did not help her case either.

Trump, he is just outright rude. He was interruptive and too power hungry throughout the debate. When he would be told his time was up he would put out his hand, signifying stop talking, and continue on with what he had to say-- probably having to do with himself. What bothers me the most about Trump is his derogatory language. He speaks down to others as if they are nothing. I will never forget when he made fun of the news reporter with a disability. No one ever has the right to take down someone over something they have no control over, or anything for that matter. He also constantly degrades women based on their looks, which he even did to Clinton last night saying “she doesn't have the look.” What is the look to run the country? Just a male?

Clinton, she always seems confused. When she would be asked a question she never answered directly, but rather tried to turn it into what she wanted to answer. She also would take long pauses before speaking making it seem as if she really had to think about how to answer simple questions she should have been preparing for. Also, while she wasn't speaking she would look straight into the camera which personally made me feel rather uncomfortable as if she were staring into my soul.

The debate just made for an overall laughable, yet upsetting situation. It was a great source of entertainment, but also gave me a lot of fear. One of these two not so great candidates is bound to be our next commander in chief-- the world will soon be spinning backwards.

Actually, maybe I’ll be crying for the next four years.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
