With the upcoming election, I'm sure we're all feeling a mix of emotions. Whether we're "With Her" or want to "Make America Great Again," there's only one (kind-of) positive outcome we can think of. In the recent film, Inside Out, there are five core emotions that each person has and they fuel how the person is going to feel in different situations. Here's how I feel about the current election based on these emotions.
Sadness
Any inkling of hope I had left in humanity went missing at about the same time I found out I couldn't vote for Bernie. He had a bird land on his podium for goodness sake! He was basically a male Snow White and the only saving grace this nation had. He'll always be the one that got away.
Fear
I'm scared for the future of this country. Either candidate can only dig our country into a hole that no one will be able to get us out of. I'm not ready for the potential for more wars, large walls, and booming bigotry nor for half the country to want to fight to impeach someone over emails.
Anger
This perfectly describes how I've felt during every debate and how I'll continue to feel when I have to listen to one of these people talk for the next four to eight years. I'm tired of only hearing racist slurs, people slandering one another, and broadcasters discuss possible treason and sexual assault cases.
Disgust
When I realized the only candidates I have to choose from are a racist orange or a try-hard PTA mom. Sure, there's Jill Stein and Gary Johnson but do they really have a chance when the media has been blowing up about Clinton and Trump since day one? Probably not.
Joy
How I'll feel watching the results roll in on Tuesday night when my favorite takes the lead.
Although, no matter who wins our brains will always just filter the presidents like this:
"US presidents. What do you think?"
"Just keep Washington, Lincoln and the fat one."
