As a Penn State student, it is tradition to visit the Berkey Creamery at least once during your four years at Penn State. Let's face it: you definitely have been there at least ten times throughout the year, even more so if you were a freshman living in East Halls. On hot summer days back at home, all you can do is dream of the wonderful ice cream at the Creamery and start the countdown for going back to Happy Valley. In the meantime, check out the basic-o-meter to se if your typical flavor is considered basic:
1. Peachy Paterno
The flavor that honors the one and only Joe Pa is a classic dish to get on game day. The vanilla base and pieces of peach create a nostalgic feeling for hazy summer days spent at the beach.
2. Coconut Chip
Another summer flavor that enlightens the taste buds even on a wintery night in State College, Coconut Chip is a perfect flavor to remember summer with. Hold the sprinkles on this tasty delight because the coconut flavoring has it all.
3. WPSU Coffee Break
This flavor goes out to all of the coffee-addict college students in State College. If your average drink of Iced Caramel Macchiato from Starbucks doesn't give you that extra boost you need, Coffee Break is the basic ice cream for you.
4. Scholar's Chip
This classic twist on vanilla ice cream is perfect for the basic girl in all of us. Vanilla ice cream with vanilla bean and chocolate chips is a great snack after dinner in the dining hall. Spice it up with sprinkles to add some color for your Instagram.

5. Death by Chocolate
The complete opposite of Scholar's Chip, this chocolate masterpiece is the ultimate treat for any chocolate lover. The concept is that the overpowering chocolate nearly kills you and you float on a chocolate Cloud Nine. This flavor receives a five on the basic meter because it is a flavor that is always enjoyed by anyone and everyone.
6. Bittersweet Mint
Bittersweet Mint is a flavor that can be savored at any time of the year on campus. This flavor will get you a lot of likes on Instagram because it is secretly everyone's favorite flavor on campus.

7. Peanut Butter Swirl
If you're a peanut butter lover, this flavor is your go-to flavor at any time of the day. This flavor is rarely seen in shake form, but is always enjoyed in a bowl or a cone.
8. Mint Nittany
Although this flavor only surfaces occasionally, every basic girl on campus has enjoyed the unbelievably, satisfying combination of mint flavored ice cream with Oreo Cookies. Even if you're not a huge mint fan, your love for Oreo's is what drew you to this amazing flavor.
9. Cookies 'N Cream
This is just about as basic as it gets, especially if there are sprinkles involved. Check your social media apps for this beauty because it will make your mouth water.
10. Cookie Dough
The most basic ice cream flavor is awarded to Cookie Dough. This dish is so spectacular because the ice cream is not vanilla based, it is cookie dough flavored. The best way to enjoy this flavor is to add sprinkles and eat it on a cone. Get ready for the most “likes" on your Instagram because you know people will become instantly jealous of your delectable treat.
