Without question, the Chicago Cubs are the best team in baseball. They lead the league as the first team to reach 90 wins this season (a feat they haven't achieved in consecutive seasons since 1928-1930), and have broken more than a few records this season so far. The infield is unbeatable and we have a few unhittable pitchers (okay, so Arrieta is the only one with technical no-hitters, but Lester made it more than half a game and Hendricks was so close against the Cardinals).
The regular season is coming to a close and since the Cubs postseason chances are locked down, I thought I'd address the sea of bandwagon fans that are sure to emerge sometime in the coming weeks. This one's for you guys.
Names to Know
Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, and David Ross: AKA Bryzzo and Grandpa, these three are an inseparable (and adorable) baseball family. For updates, check their Instagram.
Joe Maddon and Theo Epstein: the manager and President of the Chicago Cubs, respectively. Their decisions (along with the rest of the front office) are why we are here today. Maddon is intent on making baseball fun again and it appears to be working for these guys. Keep on keepin' on, boys.
Kyle Schwarber: Schwarbs unfortunately suffered an ACL injury very early on in the season and won't be healthy enough to play for the rest of 2016 (at least, "most likely probably not"), but he's still a member of the team and is suited up for as many games as he can to cheer on his teammates. He also narrated one of the recently released playoff hype videos, so it's safe to say he's not going anywhere.

2 more things...
1. The last time the Cubs were in the World Series was 1945, not 1908.
While 1908 is usually the year that's mentioned when the words "Cubs" and "World Series" are used in the same sentence, that's just the last time they won the World Series. They had an unsuccessful outing in 1945 and have had a few playoff appearances since. Their odds of winning it all this year are...well, I don't want to jinx anything. But they're good.
2. For the love all things good in this world, do not mention a certain animal.
We've heard the jokes, alright? Us non-bandwagon fans are very sick of them and would appreciate a break. Hopefully, come next year, you'll become one of us.
