Philadelphia is the 49th most populous city in the world and is filled with so many fun events and activities to keep locals as well as visitors busy all year long. Sometimes it’s easy to forget about all of the fun things that Philly has to offer! Here are some things you should consider doing or visiting during your time in the City of Brotherly Love.

1. Franklin Institute

The Franklin Institute is a classic, and is one of America’s top museums! If you’re from the Philly area, it’s likely that you had a field trip to The Franklin Institute when you were in grade school. It’s also likely that it’s been years since you’ve visited and trust me, it’s worth heading back.

2. Spruce Street Harbor Park

Spruce Street Harbor Park is only open during the summer, but it’s the perfect place to hang out then! SSHP has over 50 colorful hammocks, activities and tons of events that are great for anything from a family hangout to date night.

3. Reading Terminal Market

FOOD on FOOD on [REALLY GOOD] FOOD! Reading Terminal Market has it all! From dairy to meat to veggies, it’s the perfect place to stop and eat.

4. Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens

Not too far from Reading Terminal Market is the gorgeous Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens! Take some time to explore this beautiful work of art and grab some awesome pictures while you’re at it!

5. Philadelphia Zoo

The Philadelphia Zoo is another great choice for a day trip for locals. Take a guided tour if you’re from out of town, or just stop by with family and friends to see all the animals that reside here in Philly!

6. Boat House Row

Stop by Boat House Row during one of the awesome regattas or come by at night to see the houses beautifully lit up.

7. Philadelphia Museum of Art

This is one of the largest art museums in the nation and one that you won’t want to miss! You can plan your trip and check out current exhibitions online or stop by for a brief visit when in the city.

8. Independence Hall

Independence Hall is a must-see before you leave the city and head out of town. This is where the U.S. constitution and Declaration of Independence were affirmed. History is so important and this is the perfect place to learn all about the history of America.

9. LOVE Park

Head to Center City and see LOVE Park! There are often cool food trucks in the park in the spring and summer, so you won’t want to miss grabbing some great food all while seeing a great Philly staple.

10. Citizens Bank Park

What could be more fun or a better way to show your Philly spirit then going to a Phillies game?

11. Eastern State Penitentiary

Do you like something a little more edgy? Head to the ESP, a former prison and check out the museum or attend a cool event, like Yoga in prisons!

12. Liberty Bell

Before you finish your Philly visit, hit one more Philadelphia classic landmark -- The Liberty Bell. Take a picture or two, and read up on some more Philadelphia history. There’s never too much to learn!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
