Super Bowl Sunday. It's the culmination of the entire NFL season. Two hundred and fifty-six games have all led to this. Thirty-two teams and only two of them remain, and there will only be one winner, one champion. It's the greatest game, and it's the worst night of the entire season. Now what are we supposed to do? No more football until September. (Don't you mean August? No! The pre-season is pointless.) There's nothing to watch, Sundays are pointless, everything is boring. I'm just going to sleep until September.
This is how all of us football fans feel right now, but let me remind you of the many great things we can watch until next football season begins.
The NBA and NHL seasons are both in full swing, with only a little over a month left until the playoffs. While the NBA season has been relatively boring and predictable, (lack of parity) the NHL has had (quietly) a very exciting year. I would like to note that the Blackhawks are in first place, broke their own franchise record for consecutive wins, and Patrick Kane had more consecutive games with a point than any American player ever. Unlike the NBA however, there is no clear winner, with Washington, Chicago, and Dallas all looking like serious contenders this year, making for what should be a very exciting playoffs.
And if that doesn't excite you, there's only 56 days until Major League Baseball's Opening Day! (April 4th, 2016) America's boring pastime, baseball. I'm a Brewers fan, so here comes 100 losses, but the rest of you can have fun with that one.
Still not satisfied? Well guess what this summer is? EURO 2016 in France! Second only to the World Cup is the European Championship, and it should be an amazing one. Germany is coming off of their stellar World Cup performance two years ago, and while this is a month long tournament where anything can happen, I really think Germany can win it all this year, and hope so too.
The Olympics are this summer, but try not to get too excited.
If football is the only sport that you're into then, first of all, we probably can't be friends, but that being said, there is a lot of great television you can watch.
"Gotham" and "The Walking Dead" both start back up in a week, so that should be fun. Fear not, "The Walking Dead" will have 14 more episodes before the first season is over, and "The Big Bang Theory" has something big planned this week. American Idol is finally ending this year, and I couldn't be more excited; and the new season of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" will be on Netflix in April.
The most important thing of all however, is the new season of "Game of Thrones." And while I'd like to discuss the cliffhanger and all of the crazy that was the last few seasons finally, I will save that for a different article that will have spoiler alert written everywhere. But before I get ahead of myself, it is the greatest show on television and everyone needs to watch it. If you are unsure, watch it, it's amazing. If you've tried and don't like it try again, because there isn't a problem with the show, there's a problem with you. And if you're one of those liars who "don't watch TV" then your life is at a level of negativity that I can't handle.
So quick recap. NHL playoffs, Euro 2016 are both gonna be dope. The Olympics are a waste of time, and "Game of Thrones" is the greatest show ever created by man.
