Five Things You Feel Before The Football Season

Football season is starting! Get ready to get pumped and cheering for your favorite teams! Whether you're thinking about college football, the pros, or both, there are a lot of emotions that you feel while you're thinking about the upcoming season. This goes for almost any sport, but I've decided to focus on football since I'm just about to leave to watch my own school play football.

1) Excitement. The season's coming and of course you're excited! You get to put on face paint, dress up in ridiculous outfits that nobody judges you on because you're showing your spirit, and you get to make memories once again as you watch your team kick some major butt.

2) Fear. There's always a fifty/fifty chance your team could win or lose, and that thought scares you as you look at who they're playing when. What team scare you the most? Well, I guess that depends who you're routing for in the first place.

3) Nostalgia. Remember that very first football game you went to with your family or your friends? Remember how you lost your voice for a whole week after cheering so loud after watching your favorite team win a huge game? The new season will remind you of some good old times and will make you hope you're about to have another noteworthy story to share for next year.

4) Anger. Remember that one pass where that one player totally should've caught the ball but there was a blade of grass in their way and it tripped them instead so they lost the game? You better believe you'll be extra angry if something like that happens again!

5) Hope. Last year you guys came so close to winning against your rivals! This year you're sure you'll beat them this time.

When it comes to college especially, I think it's great to have this intense cheering moments together. We all come from such different places, such different backgrounds, but for a while none of that matters. We all want our team to win, and if someone else is as excited as we are then they're our friend too. I don't go to many sports events, but whenever I do go, even if I go alone there's always someone who acts like I'm one of their best friends in a moment of excitement. Sports help bring us all close together, and it's always so much fun getting together and cheering for our team. Now I know I'm biased when I say this, but Go Rams! Let's go kick some Buffalo butt!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
