As you read this small piece of writing, know that it is a piece of my heart. See, I am a lover by nature. I always have been and I always will be. Life is more beautiful when you’re loving something. There is a part of humanity that longs to love and be shown love and I don’t think any of us can deny that. I want you to learn to fall in love. Not with the boy next door or Channing Tatum, but with the world around you and the things that make you feel alive. The things that are so small that you forget how big they truly are.
Fall in love with everything. We only have a few years on this earth. Even if you live to be a hundred, that’s nothing, really. So, love everything. Now, I don’t mean just the beautiful and pleasant parts of life; I mean everything. Fall in love with the way the shape of the moon changes every night, yet remains constant in the sky. Fall in love with the way the thorns of a rose bush prick your skin and remind you that where there is beauty, there is always pain. Fall in love with the loyalty of your pet. Fall in love with your grandparents. Fall in love with a headache you always get after you take a long nap. Fall in love with pumping gas and the way you are forced to meet eyes with fellow humans across the concrete pad. Fall in love with the rustle of leaves under your feet. Fall in love with the freezing cold and the blazing heat. Fall in love with the way the water relentlessly beats against the rocks, yet they don’t seem to mind. Fall in love with high school. Fall in love with how everything seems to change colors after a good, hard rain. Fall in love with the way the sun rises and sets every day, like clockwork. But, most importantly, fall in love with yourself.
Now don't get me wrong, you’ll get your heart broken — just like I have. You’ll love the wrong things and the wrong people sometimes, but don’t let that stop you. Don’t let that dull your happiness or tarnish your love. We all have a lot of love to give to the world. Give it freely and let it flow. You’ll feel so alive, I promise.
