Every year is a chance for a fan to find glory with their team, although don't tell this to Liverpool fans. This may come back to haunt me, but here's my prediction for the winners and flops of the 2016/17 Premier League.
1. Manchester United
- Every 1st season under a new club is a successful season for Mourinho. With the new signings of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, record fee Paul Pogba and showman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he means business.
Throw in the pace of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial plus the experience of Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney and you might see the new face of the champions.
2. Manchester City
- Without a doubt, this will be Pep Guardiola's most difficult job, it will take some time for him to adapt. Great signings, even some for the future.
The defense looks a bit shaky, but this team will concentrate on their strengths: their midfield and forwards. They'll come close, but no cigar.
3. Chelsea
-
A manager with fresh ideas, Kanté will be the shield of the team, Batshuayi will be a revelation and Eden Hazard will come great again.
4. Liverpool
- Not competing in European football will be a massive relief for them. Liverpool will rise again with Klopp's optimism and good tactics.
If* Daniel Sturridge stays fit, he'll bang on a lot of goals.
5. Arsenal
- Will start the season strong, but fade away in the long run, just about sounds like every season under Wenger. Missing out on Champions League will ruin them.
Xhaka will prove to be a great signing, but the curse of injuries and a lack of other signings will rue the day of their success.
6. Tottenham
-
Will continue their poor form towards the end of the season. Kane might not do so well again, Janssen to do well as a super sub.
7. Leicester City
- Fairytales aren't forever. Champions League will work against them, they'll show a huge progression over the coming years though.
They've done a great job keeping their top players (except Kanté)
Vardy will link up with Musa to score a lot of goals, also with the help of Mahrez.
8. West Ham
- Playing on too many fronts will be their only downfall, will fail to concentrate properly on the league.
9. Everton
- Koeman is a great add but they'll do decent. A massive improvement from Martinez.
All will depend if they keep Lukaku, who will keep improving year after year. Ashley Williams will lead the team.
10. Stoke City
- A normal Stoke City season. Mark Hughes seems satisfied with the squad.
Only one signing, Joe Allen will be a lovely add to the team. Shaquiri to hit double figures this season.
11. Crystal Palace
- Will have a great season. Pardew is a quality manager and Cabaye will be their main man.
If, and that's a big *IF* they sign Benteke, their position might change.
12. Southampton
- A team that usually sells their starters every season, but still bounces back to do well in the league, although with the loss of Ronald Koeman, they'll struggle.
The loss of
13. Sunderland
- The surprise package, under new manager David Moyes, they're won't be any worries for relegation this season.
Defoe will do wonders and
14. Middlesbrough
- Quality signings will be the factor for their great season.
Brad Guzan & Victor Valdés. PL quality goalkeepers with experience.
Álvaro Negredo & Viktor Fischer, both great forwards.
15. Watford
- Sacking Quique Flores is a loss, they'll struggle at first under Mazzarri.
The team will depend on Deeney and Ighalo scoring, and even then they may not perform as well as last season.
16. Swansea City
- It could go either way for this club, the loss of Ashley Williams is brutal to their defense as well as selling Ayew to West Ham.
Although they signed two interesting forwards: Fernando Llorente & Borja Bastón, the two Spanish forwards will spice up the squad.
17. Bournemouth
- An impressive debut season in the PL under Eddie Howe last year, however this won't happen this year.
They'll find the league harder the second time around, ex-Liverpool youngsters Jordan Ibe & Brad Smith will bode well in the team.
18. West Brom
- Pulis to get relegated for the first time ever.
19. Burnley
- Andre Gray will score a fair amount of goals, Jon Flanagan a good add to the squad, but won't be enough to keep them safe.
20. Hull City
- Sacking Steve Bruce was a mistake and will cost them dearly, not enough players and no obvious plan.
Top Scorer: Sergio Agüero
- It's incredible how reliable this player is up front. City's new era is likely to bring with it a lot of goals and Agüero will be the main man to provide them. Presuming he's injury free, he'll be lethal.
Player Of The Year: Kevin De Bruyne
- Had he not injured his knee in January, his season would've been better. Under Guardiola, he'll dominate on possession and create loads of chances. He'll thrive even more if he's used as an attacking midfielder.
Looking Forward To: Leicester City
Everyone will say the battle of Mourinho vs. Guardiola, fair enough. Also the excitement of all the top managers battling it out in the PL but I'll want to see how Leicester City fair out after being champions last year. It'll be interesting to see.
