10 Ways To Help The Environment
People don't realize how much they affect the environment until they realize what all they do and use in their every day lives. These issues have grown to a much greater extent and in contrast with this, the concept of eco-friendly or going eco-friendly has progressed more and more throughout the years.

1. Use reusable metal straws instead of plastic straws

Using reusable straws reduces the use of plastic straws that go to the ocean and hurt and even kill marine life, especially sea turtles. When going out for coffee or any drink, instead of using the straw they give you, use your own metal straw to help reduce the use of plastic in the world.

2. Use a reusable cup instead of a plastic cup

The same goes for a reusable cup to reduce the use of plastic on earth. When you're going out for a beverage, just bring your own metal cup.

3. Use canvas bags instead of plastic bags

Even though some stores are switching to paper bags rather than plastic, using canvas bags to shop with is more beneficial for the environment.

4. Use a bamboo toothbrush

We don't realize how badly a toothbrush affects the environment, but toothbrushes have a major impact on how the environment is affected. Toothbrushes are made out of plastic and so when they are thrown away they get brought to the ocean and that's harmful to marine life. Bamboo toothbrushes not only decompose faster but they also have bristles that are made out of charcoal which naturally brightens your teeth!

5. Eat plant-based protein instead of meat

Eating plant-based protein is a good way to help the environment because it reduces the amount of animals murdered every day for human consumption. Also, plant-based protein is healthier because there are fats in meat that clog up arteries that plant-based protein doesn't have. You can find plant-based protein in grocery stores and even fast-food places such as Qdoba.

6. Eat and drink dairy-free products

Eating no meat isn't all that's going to end the slaughter of animals. Cows are murdered every day after they can no longer produce milk. Chickens are murdered every day after they can no longer lay eggs. That's all their life is made up of when it shouldn't be like that because they are worth so much more than that. They deserve to be able to live happy lives as much as we do. You can buy dairy-free products at grocery stores.

7. Try to regulate your air conditioning

Regulating your air conditioning helps the environment by reducing less energy. Your air conditioner uses energy to provide efficient heating and cooling. Every time the AC comes on, your home consumes energy from the power grid. Additionally, air conditioners collectively contribute to the greenhouse effect and to global warming. The hot air releases into the atmosphere and can create more heat in the atmosphere. In cities where most homes and businesses have air conditioners, urban heat zones form in the sky, often changing weather patterns. Make sure to have a timer on your thermostat to turn it off once it reaches a certain temperature. Also, make sure to turn it off before you leave your house so it's not just running.

8. Use a water filter

Getting a water filter limits the amount of tubes or bottles of water you buy. So when getting water, you can simply get it from your sink!

9. Sell or donate clothes

When you donate clothes to organizations that sell them in thrift stores, such as Goodwill, you are helping the environment. If people buy used clothing instead of new, fewer new clothes need to be made. The polyester fiber production process puts a strain on the environment. So buying less clothes and donating clothes helps reduce the use of polyester fiber.

10. Educate others on ways to help the environment!

This is the most important one of all. Make sure to tell more people about what you are doing to help the environment to inspire them to do so as well!
