Halloween has never been my favorite holiday, but I always enjoy handing out candy to the cutest little princesses and the handsome superheros. The smiles on their faces when they receive their candy is the best! Once Halloween passes however, there are many things on your to-do list for the holidays to come…
DO: Take down your Halloween decorations. After Halloween, there really is no reason to be scaring people like that.
DON’T: Immediately blast Christmas music while doing so. It will help drag out the process for hours because you are too busy jamming to some Mariah Carrey.
DO: Start getting out your cute winter scarves and booties because it will be that time of year again before you know it.
DON’T: By any means, forget about Thanksgiving. It is one of the best holidays and even though there is no Thanksgiving music, it is important to be grateful for being able to watch A Christmas Story a month and a half early.
DO: Practice your cooking skills. Some people are naturally good at cooking. For others, we must learn by the book, even if learning means messing up 10 times and still having the guts to go for an 11th.
DON’T: Try to “spread Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear." People will judge, they will scold, and eventually attack.
DO: Put up Christmas decorations on the interior of your house, but DO NOT even think to decorate the exterior until at least a week after Thanksgiving. They will be ripped down and you will be left a rather nasty note about skipping ahead to Christmas.
DON’T: Make fake snow and put it in your front yard to get into the “holiday spirit.” While snow is beautiful, it is also the worst kind of weather to travel in, and why on earth would we wish for snow earlier than we have to?!Now that you know the do's and don't's of holiday etiquette, I also think that it's okay to break every rule in this list because I know I will. I just can't help myself when it comes to cute Christmas decorations, but every day is a day to be thankful which is why it's okay to be surrounded by Christmas decor for Thanksgiving dinner.
