What are you living for?

Do you ever wonder about a grand higher meaning, a superior higher being, a plan so intricate and beyond all measures that it remains flawless, defying every obstacle? Impossible, right? Because even then, the mere idea would suppose that we’re the derivatives of a strategic plan where we have no foresight to its final destination, and clearly that’s absurd, or is it? It kind of makes you wonder just what our purpose is. What’s behind the reasoning which makes us naturally inclined to help others, or what makes us constantly dig deeper to discover, what inspires us to wonder: who, what ,when, or why?

Throughout all stages of life, we are presented with some form of pressure. Pressure to find our purpose, pressure to grow up, pressure to succeed in life. Quickly after the newborn stage, we’re moved into this process known as development. Here our parents are the first notch/ obstacle on our journey. Always competing to see which one of their names we’ll say first. This competitive nature progressively moves into being a straight honor roll student, to being an all-star athlete, to being top of the class or valedictorian, which lands you in an Ivy League University where failing is not an option, to reading this segment and wondering what’s your purpose. What does your objective, where will you fit in, what can you do to keep from disappointing your parents? Rome wasn’t built in a day the same can be said about purpose. You won’t find your purpose living your life for others. To find your path and take the first steps on the road to your purpose, you must first discover what makes you happy.

You need to ignore what everyone else is doing and achieving. Your journey is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself, so that you can live your best life. Plan to outdo your past because the only competition you have is the person you were yesterday. Don’t let your dreams and goals get buried under the opinions of others, especially when those opinions were not requested. Unsolicited advice is, more often than not, about the needs of the giver and not the receiver. Understand that it is totally acceptable to be proud of yourself. If you are doing the best you can with what you have, be proud of that. Your purpose can be found by you and you only. It doesn’t matter how fast you get there, as long as you get there. You can’t force a flower to bloom. When you’re ready to live up to your purpose, you and only you will know it.

Start each day with a grateful heart; develop the courage it takes live out your purpose, find your happy, and fall in love with the person you fought to become. We don’t get to pick the things that fix us, but we do get to choose the things that define us. As you continue to your journey, keep these few things in mind. You are enough even when others choose to take you for granted. You are beautiful even when others fail to acknowledge it. You are strong even in moments you feel like breaking. Circumstances do not determine your ultimate purpose nor do they dictate who you truly are.

Your crown has been bought and paid for. Put it on your head and wear it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
