Dear Roomates of the Past, Present and Future

Dear Roommates of the past, present, and future,

This is a letter to you. Not only for appreciation, but this serves as a huge thank you. I want you to know how much I not only value what you have done for me, but I am grateful for how strong our friendship has grown since living together. You have seen my at my best, but you have also seen me at my absolute worst, and I thank you for sticking by my side through it all.

None of the living arrangements in dorms were the most accommodating. We have dealt with hot nights of attempting to sleep with no air conditioning, to looking at our ceiling and becoming petrified of the bug crawling across our heads. Speaking of bugs, thank you for putting up with me when I faced a pathological fear of bed bugs when I first settled in. We have had to deal with loud neighbors and making the choice to stick it out or to be even louder just make them mad. As roommates, we have gone through a lot and I thank you for still being positive and wonderful even when we found ourselves in some unfortunate situations.

Thank you for not judging me when I order sushi delivery way too many times in a semester. More importantly, thank you for splitting that 2 a.m. large pizza and making sure to lock our door so no one grabs a bite. Thank you for buying rolls of cookie dough and eating them with me instead of going out on a Friday night. Thank you for never yelling at me when I would take some of your food (or maybe you just didn't notice) because I was too lazy to walk somewhere and buy dinner. Thank you for always valuing the time while we would sit in Starbucks and talk for hours over coffee. Most importantly, thank you for being there to listen to me and provide me with advice I will forever live by and be appreciative of.

Thank you for never letting me fall asleep before 1 a.m. because the conversation never ends. Thank you for reading and rereading every text I might send to a boy and making sure it sounds alright. Thank you for letting me know I am being crazy and over thinking everything. But ,really, thank you for being the one there for me when that boy decides he wants nothing to do with me and has moved on.

Thank you for sharing your closet with me whenever there may be a time of a fashion emergency. Thank you for supplying me with endless date function dresses and shoes and always making sure I look my best before going to these events. Thank you for making getting ready for any night out just as fun as the actual event. Thank you for being a goofball with me and dancing around our small room as we prepare for a legendary evening. Thank you for being the first one to offer to be my date when I get turned down, and thank you for finding me a date after I've already gone through my whole contact list.

There are so many things I could thank you for but I just want you to know how much I have enjoyed and appreciated all the memories we have had together. College truly would not have been the same without experiencing it with you by my side. I will forever be grateful to have lived with you during this exciting times in our lives and see where our lives will take us from here.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
