Looking for some rad holidays to celebrate in May? Look no further! Here are 5 holidays to mix up your celebrations:
Lumpy Rug Day
May 3 is the day to appreciate nice, smooth rugs. Rugs should not be lumpy, for a lumpy rug would be an uncomfortable disgrace! Bare feet do not rejoice standing on a lumpy rug. Not to mention, a lumpy rug is an absolute OCD nightmare. If you or someone you know have had the struggle with owning a lumpy rug, you all are advised to throw it away--into the garbage! Because no one should have to deal with a lumpy rug, and everyone should have the chance to experience the luxuries of walking, lying and sitting on a smooth, soft, heavenly rug.
May the 4th
" Star Wars" fans like this day because it is "Star Wars" Day. There are also many puns, so I like it, too. Puns are great, therefour this is a great holiday. May the fourth be with you. Following May 4th is the Revenge of the 5th. This is the day for every "Star Wars" fan, especially those with a speech impediment.
Receptionist Day
The second hump day of May is the day to celebrate Receptionist Day! So when this day comes around, show some love to your favorite receptionist. Or any receptionist for that matter. Just buy a bunch of flowers and go into every place nearby with a receptionist and just throw a flower at them--they'll love it. If you're really feeling the love, some people even label the whole second week of May as Receptionist Appreciation Week.
The Kentucky Derby
May 7 is when the fabulous Kentucky Derby occurs--where fancy ladies and ridiculous hats collide. And the horses--can't forget them, they are kind of important. This horse race is often referred to as "the most exciting two minutes in sports," and I mean, that could be debatable. In my opinion, the ladies wearing crazy and preposterous hats are the most exciting part. The horses are wearing superhero masks. It would be so much cooler and exciting if each horse had a special superpower, like laser vision or teleportation. But unfortunately that is not the case. Oh well, it is what it is (or is it?) Anyways, if I were to choose the Kentucky Derby or Nascar, then I would certainly prefer the Kentucky Derby. Why? Because animals are cooler than cars. Yep, I said it.
Cinco de Mayo
This is the day of mayonnaise. Just kidding. Of course it isn't because mayo is too yucky of a condiment to have its own holiday. The holiday Cinco de Mayo (May 5 in Spanish) was originally to remember how the Mexican Army beat the French army at the battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. This was a significant moment in Mexican history. However, the day that celebrates Hispanic independence is September 19. Cinco de Mayo is a day which signifies Mexican and Hispanic pride and which embraces and celebrates their culture. It is celebrated primarily by Mexicans, but that doesn't mean you can't put your cat in a taco suit. Also, I bet this is Donald Trump's least favorite holiday--especially since Cinco de Mayo is celebrated by the Hispanic community in the U.S.
So there are some cool holidays you can celebrate in this fabulous month of May--in addition to Mother's Day, of course.
