Super Bowl LI was a game that everyone was excited for, and a game that will easily go down as one of the most exciting games in NFL history...
But not at first.
The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots were all set to play in the 51st Super Bowl held at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on Feb. 5th. Fans were all decked out in Falcons and Patriots gear anticipating the annual game, because we all knew, unlike the Super Bowl 48 game where the Seattle Seahawks killed the Denver Broncos 43-8, that this was going to be a great game to see.
During the first quarter of the game, defense was incredible for both teams, but it became apparent that the Falcons were more aggressive which led to a scoreless first quarter. As the game continued the Falcons showed the Patriots what they were made of, and ended the third quarter with a score of 28-9. With the last quarter coming up, fans became disappointed that this would be another blowout game, because never in super bowl history had a team made a comeback win when they were down more than 10 points, much less 19 points down. But wait, Tom Brady had assisted Danny Amendola for a touchdown. Suddenly, the Patriots had come back. The Falcons had a score of 28 while the Patriots had a score of 20 still needing one touchdown to tie the game. Tom Brady was making another comeback and leaving everyone on the edge of their seats.
The score then tied 28-28 and the Falcons had lost their 19 point lead and for the first time in Super Bowl history, the game had gone into overtime. Records were being broken and the Patriots had taken the lead. In overtime, the Patriots had won the game by a two-yard run by James White.
Confetti dropped, fans screamed with excitement, and Tom Brady had won his 5th Super Bowl game with a score of 34-28 defeating the Atlanta Falcons. Super Bowl LI will go down in history as one of the most dramatic comebacks.
