Every Super Bowl is unique, but obviously some are better than others. A close, competitive game is something that everyone wants to see, especially if their favorite team is out of contention on the coveted day. This piece will rank, from worst to best, the last five Super Bowls. Criteria include competitiveness, star power, and of course, the halftime show. So sit back, relax and relive the last five greatest Sundays of the year.
5. Super Bowl XLVIII
This match up between the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos was highly anticipated, but sadly the game fell flat. Denver had the league's top offense and Seattle had the league's top defense. Denver had a legend in Peyton Manning while Seattle had an up and coming star in Russel Wilson. This game had everything you could possibly want in a Super Bowl. However, we all should have known it was going to be a long night when the first snap resulted in a safety, giving Seattle the lead that they never gave up. The halftime show with Bruno Mars wasn't half bad, he is a great performer with a lot of energy, but even he could not make up for the lack of intensity. This was just an overall disappointing game.

4. Super Bowl XLV
This installment of the Super Bowl saw the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers prevail over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger. This game was exciting because it featured two of the most storied franchises in NFL history. The game started out looking as if Green Bay was just going to dominate all the way through, but the Steelers fought back to make it relatively competitive, although they still fell short in the end. The halftime show was headlined by The Black Eyed Peas in a performance that would have been relative and exciting just a few years prior to the game. Not a bad game, just nothing special here.

3. Super Bowl XLVI
Everybody loves a good rematch and this was one for the ages. The second match up between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots was another great, classic Super Bowl. While this particular game did not have the iconic helmet catch, it still had plenty story lines of its own. The Giants had only been 9-7 in the regular season and were not expected to make a run at the championship. The Patriots had led the AFC in the regular season at 13-3 but the Giants proved to be their Kryptonite once again. Eli Manning led a game winning drive that was almost foiled by a Hail Mary from the Patriots at the end of regulation, but the Giants were able to hold on and win because the Pats couldn't hold on to the ball in the end zone. All of these great moments would make it seem as if this game would be higher on the list, but the halftime show was very unimpressive. It was headlined by Madonna and it was just not entertaining. Maybe if I was a lot older it would have been, but nonetheless, the halftime show proved to be the downfall of this great game.

2. Super Bowl XLIX
Only thing better than a rematch, is a chance to repeat. The Seattle Seahawks had a chance to win back-to-back Lombardi trophies but ultimately they were beat by the New England Patriots, who won their fourth championship. This game started off extremely slow and I was prepared for a let down, but the end of this game made it an instant classic. Jermaine Kearse of the Seahawks made a catch the made the helmet catch look elementary but then Pete Carroll made a questionable call that resulted in an interception at the one yard line that gave the Patriots the win. Not only was this a great game, but it also had a very good halftime show headlined by Katy Perry. And while Katy Perry gave a wonderful performance, it was Left Shark who stole the show and made this one of the best Super Bowls in recent memory.

1. Super Bowl XLVII
I think this is one of the most underrated games of all time. Most of the focus was on the coaches because of the fact that they are brothers, but this did turn out to be a great game. The game between the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers appeared at first that the Ravens were going to run away in a blowout. But instead of a blowout, we got a blackout when the power went out at the stadium. This proved to be the spark that the Niners needed as they made a fierce comeback to make it a competitive game. Ultimately, the Ravens prevailed and won the game. Aside from the great game, we also got a legendary halftime show from the one and only Beyonce. She proved why people refer to her as a queen and stole the show. Best Super Bowl all around of the past five years.
