Pass me the Kleenex, will ya? Damn, it hurts to be a sports fan living in the Carolinas. I am a Carolina boy born and bred, but I'm going to go ahead and admit it: this year has been one of the most excruciatingly painful years in sports history for our teams. Panther, Tiger, and Tar Heel fans everywhere mourn over the tragic outcomes each of these teams faced in the past year. Losing is sad, but the way we lost is truly ironic. Second place in the NFL; second place in NCAA FB; second place in NCAA MBB. You know what they say, "Second place is the greatest loser." Maybe that is what hurts the most; not the loss itself, but the thought that we almost won the whole thing. Nobody wants to be defeated. Nobody wants pain. But right now, we must stand together as fans and pray for victory for our boys clad in Panther, Tiger, and Tar Heel uniforms.

The sacks hurt the Panthers.
The busted plays hurt Clemson.
Don't even get me started on that buzzer beater...
Now that I got the ugly images out of the way, let me get to my point: things are going to get better. As my elementary school P.E. coach used to say, "Pain is temporary, Pride is forever." When I witnessed the Tigers fall to the Crimson Tide in Glendale, AZ with the rest of Tiger Band, I felt a tear in the hearts of my Clemson family. That bus ride from the stadium back to the hotel was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. Why am I telling you this? Here's why:
Tiger Band will play that much louder next time the Tigers face another team.
The Dean Smith Center will be that much crazier the next time the Heels tip off against another basketball team.
Cam will be that much more determined to not let his nerves get to him when facing off against an intimidating defensive line.
We will rise again. I can surely promise you that our boys are working to ensure that we will rise to the top and not let anyone stand in their way. But victory doesn't come from our teams alone; there is one more factor that is just as (if not more) important: the fans. That's right, including you. So get your butt to the convenience store, buy some face paint, buy some gear, buy yourself that playoff ticket you've always wanted, and get out there and make some noise.
