While there are a lot of great places to study both at The University of Texas and in the surrounding areas, finding your perfect study spot can be tough.Check out these diverse and prime study spot options, to help you be as successful as possible during your time at UT.
1) The PCL (East 21st Street and Speedway Street)
No list of top campus study spots would be complete without the Perry Castaneda Library. The PCL offers both community and silent study areas, along with access to computers and printing. It’s mid-campus location and late hours, which peak at 2 a.m. during the beginning of the semester, shifting to 24/5 on Oct. 12 and 24/7 Nov. 29, make it an easy and accessible way to study up.
2) Reliant Productivity Center (McCombs School of Business, East 21st and Speedway Street)
If you’re a student in the McCombs School of Business, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better option than the Reliant Productivity Center, also known as the Reliant Reading Room. The convenient study space provides a 24/7 study option exclusive to McCombs students, with space for both silent and group work.
3) Bennu Coffee (East Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Poquito Street)
If caffeine and comfort are important to your study sessions, look no further than Bennu. The 24/7 coffee shop features delicious, affordable drinks and food, along with comfortable seating and mellow music, to enhance your study experience. The only drawbacks would be sometimes slow Internet and its distance from campus, which essentially rules it out for a walker, but makes it an easy five-minute drive.
4) Second floor of the the Texas Union (2200 block of Guadalupe Street)
The second floor makes for a great study spot during the day for Longhorns looking to brush up in a silent, relaxed environment. The floor is full of recliners, and students often push two together to create makeshift beds, perfect for reading or napping in.
5) Starbucks (West 24th Street and San Antonio Street)
The classic American coffee house makes for a great West Campus study spot, with ample, comfortable seating, decent, free Internet and the best coffee selection around.
6) FAC (Directly West of the Tower)
The Peter T. Flawn Academic Center provides an open, comfortable and fairly quiet atmosphere to study in, making it a top choice for many UT students. It’s open until midnight Monday thru Thursday and will be open 24/7 this year during the finals period from Dec. 5 to Dec. 15. Some members of Student Government are currently pushing to make the building a 24-hour campus study spot throughout the school year, which would make this space even more convenient.
While these certainly aren’t all the great UT-area study spots, this list highlights some of the best. If these don’t meet your needs, I encourage you to get out there and search. With all the area has to offer, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for.
