11 Backyard Date Ideas For Some Summer Lovin' While Social Distancing

Social distancing has really changed just about everything in society right now... including dating! Who says you have to go far, though, to have fun? While the guidelines vary from state to state, and you should absolutely be following your state's guidelines and precautions, you don't have to totally stop the fun in most cases.

Here are 11 backyard dates to go on this summer while social distancing, of course!

1. A pool date

Not everyone has a pool in their backyard, but if you do, this could be the perfect solution to give you that vacation type of feel right in your own yard!

2. A picnic

A picnic is the ultimate backyard go-to because you don't even need a big yard or a lot of materials to make it happen!

3. Movie night

Going to the movies may be out of the question for a while, but getting a projector hooked up in your backyard and watching your favorite movie on it is a total go!

4. Outdoor game night

Missing your Thursday Trivia Nights? No problem! Set up an outdoor game night to simulate the feel!

5. Watch the sunset

Your backyard may not be a beach, but now is the perfect time to have that super cute and super cliche Hallmark Movie-level romantic evening by a sunset talking into the late hours of the night.

6. Outdoor craft night

Instead of working on a project together inside, take it outside to your backyard, instead! Enjoy the fresh air... and the company.

7. BBQ

If a picnic isn't your thing, that's totally OK! You can still have a meal outside and even cook it outside, too! Cook up your favorites on the grill and keep it going with a fun date night on the patio or in the yard!

8. Stargaze

Maybe the sunset isn't your thing, but maybe the stars are! I think the stars might just be aligned on this one. Plus, if you have the necessary materials, you might even be able to camp out together under the night sky!

9. Date Night Box outside

There are so many Date Box services out there that you can subscribe to for a monthly fee. Just because we're living in a social distancing era, doesn't mean your date box service has to stop! Keep the subscription going and enjoy your night outside, instead of inside!

10. Bonfire

Honestly, this is a great idea whether we're in era of social distancing or not.

11. Read a book

This could be a great way to read a book together and talk about it. It could be a fun book or a serious book or anything in between!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
