As A Woman, I Won't Support Donald Trump

How can I respect him if he doesn't respect me?

As everyone knows, Donald Trump is running for President of the United States. Many people don’t like him while many others are rallying around him. Personally, I can’t get past his sexism. As a woman, I don’t want a president that refers to a woman as anything less than an equal. Mr. Trump, it’s the 21st century. Can we please act like it? You can’t treat women like this if you want to run this country.

There are numerous articles regarding his negative comments about women, but something that really caught my eye was a Buzzfeed video. You can watch it here.

I’m sorry about the language in the video, but these are actual words from Mr. Trump himself. I tend to think I am more conservative than the average college student, but Mr. Trump would be a terrible choice for a president. It really disappoints me that Donald Trump refers to women in such ways unless he finds them attractive.

I simply cannot vote for someone who degrades my entire gender.

This Huffington Post article is filled with more incidences of his sexism. He called a woman "disgusting" because she had to call a break in court to use a breast pump to feed her infant daughter. Really, Mr. Trump? This is something our bodies are naturally designed to do. I know it must be shocking to a man lacking class, such as yourself, that breasts were biologically designed to feed babies and not for "sex appeal."

In the article I mentioned earlier, you’ll find many examples of Trump saying things about how a woman's sex appeal helps her be successful. He is basically saying that women can’t be successful if they aren’t sexually appealing. Women shouldn’t be objectified as sex objects, but as equals in the workplace. Unfortunately, this is not the case for Mr. Trump. Again, I can’t support a candidate that doesn’t support women. He has even called women "dogs" in some incidences.

Mr. Trump, do you really expect women to respect you if you don’t respect them? I don’t think so. I simply won’t be voting for you.

If you are unsure about who to vote for, you can take this quiz online.

Please consider all the options and vote on who you would think would be the best choice for our country. Stay informed and really research your candidates. Really think about what each candidate stands for and vote accordingly. Don’t let anyone influence your vote. Please don’t base your vote on gender, age, or race of the candidate. It is also important to listen to views that may not be your own cup of tea. You should at least listen to what they have to say and maybe even broaden your horizons.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
