All The Fall Things

How to be fall as heck.

All The Fall Things
Mariah Mills

With the official season of fall starting this past week, it seems only appropriate to write about how to get the most out of this fall season. The temperature gradually begins to cool down and brings a crisp breeze, and the leaves on the trees morph into beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. Here are a few of my favorite past times to enjoy the most beautiful season of the year:

Make a fall playlist.

With the coming of a new season, it is a necessity to have a playlist of some staple songs to make sure you're always in a fall vibe. For the best fall vibe these songs should have a very chill, alternative and/or indie feel to them. If you're too lazy to make your own playlist (like I often am), or are just looking for some inspiration, check out my "fall." playlist on my Spotify, and you'll have some sweet tracks to accentuate your fall days.

Stock up on hot beverages.

Whether you like coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider, make sure you have plenty of them to get you through the season. As the weather becomes cooler, theres nothing like having something warm to drink as you sit in bed and read or watch Netflix, or while you're in SA coffee shop at night trying to write a paper. Green Mountain pumpkin spice coffee and Bigelow vanilla chai tea are a few of my go-to's during the fall season.

Get outside.

In Ohio it seems as though we only have about two solid weeks of nice fall whether in between sweltering hot and freezing cold, so take advantage of it! Get outside, enjoy the fact that you can walk around for awhile without being drenched in sweat. Although it seems childish, there's nothing like playing around in the crunchy leaves that have fallen off of the trees. Find a pile and jump in like the good ole' days. Go for a hike and enjoy the view of the brightly colored trees; set up a hammock and enjoy how restful it is to be in the cool weather with a beautiful view, One of my favorite lookouts and places to hammock is rising park in Lancaster, Ohio. The view is unbeatable and there's some pretty awesome trees to set up your Eno.

Have a plethora of sweaters.

There's nothing like a big, cozy sweater on a fall day. With all of the wonderful fall colors and styles how can you go wrong? You can look put together while also feeling like you're wearing a blanket, and comfortable style is the best style am I right?

Don't feel bad about getting something pumpkin flavored.

It's so silly, but I always hesitate to order a pumpkin spice latte once they come back for fear of being associated in the "basic white girl" category. But you know what, I have genuinely enjoyed pumpkin flavored food and beverages long before it become a stereotype. So I am going to enjoy every pumpkin spice thing that I can... Except maybe not the pumpkin spice M&M's, those seem kind of sketchy.

These are just a few of my favorite ways to enjoy the fall season and all of the wonderful things that come with it. Now go out there and do all of the fall things.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
