8 Things to Accomplish in 2017

We all talk about it; we all think about it.... new years resolutions. Personally, I have never accomplished my own resolutions. So, this year I decided to make some what of a "bucket list" for 2017. I hope that this will inspire some of you to also accomplish your own resolutions... Or you can borrow my list if you'd like.

1. Do something 'wacky' with your hair.

This might be a "lady thing" because we all go thru it. We have a break up, we dye our hair. We get a new job, we get a haircut-maybe some layers and highlights. I've noticed that we do different things with our hair when we deal with something major. But, why wait for something to happen? Why not just try something new?! add some lowlights and take off a few inches. Dye your whole head bright purple. Go bald! I bet you'll feel like a brand new person after you've tried something new on your hair just for the fun of it!

2. Take an extracurricular for the hell of it.

Pottery, martial arts, golfing, gardening. There are so many extra activities that we can indulge ourselves in. Most of us are just too lazy or too in tuned with our social media that we forget about the extra things. Find some type of activity that makes you feel good and happy, and go do it! Trust me, you'll be happier all around once you get off your couch and put the phone down.

3. Learn how to change a tire.

If you already know how to do this, kudos. I can not count the number of times I needed to call someone to help me change a tire. And I know most of my friends can't do it either. So, I've taken it upon myself to make this a to do this year. I mean, it can't be that hard, right?

4. Go on a road trip.

You'll thank me later. Just get in the car and go. You can just about jump on and interstate or highway, and you'll end up miles away from home. Go somewhere warm and sunny. Take your mind off of all the stress and bad things in life. You'll feel so relaxed and content. Take mental photos. Just take time for yourself.

5. Meet some new faces.

We all have friends. But, can one ever have too many? Be friendly. Smile at a stranger. Buy someone's coffee. You never know who can turn out to be a lifelong friend. Just put some positive into someone's life.

6. Give up a bad habit.

Whether it's smoking, biting your nails, or excessive snacking, we all have a bad habit. And 2017 is the year we will overcome. One thing I've learned about kicking a bad habit, is that you usually just take one habit and replace it with another. So, instead of filling the void with something unhealthy or bad, try something that makes you feel good. Try finding a habit that is productive and makes you happy.

7. Try a new type of food.

There are so many different people in the world and all of these people eat something different from the next. Instead of sticking to the usual McDonald's or Subway, try something exotic and out of your own world. I mean what's the worst that can happen when expanding your taste buds? Just make sure you aren't allergic to anything you consume.

8. Go to a music festival.

What's more fun that be surrounded by happy people? Happy people jammin' out to the same artists as you.

I hope this list helps encourage you to go out and do some new things this year. Happy blogging.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
