Well as a senior, my last homecoming game as a student has come and gone. I am incredibly sad that I only have three games left as a student in Beaver Stadium. After watching our homecoming defeat in 2014 against Northwestern, the game that my entire family got tickets to, and we lost 29-6, I was more than ready for a memorable homecoming game. Especially, after traveling to Ann Arbor and witnessing our incredible defeat in Michigan losing 49-10, I have certainly seen my share of ups and downs for our team.
However, I was stunningly surprised this past Saturday, as our boys came out ready and the Terps, or should I say TWERPS, never came back and took the lead at any point.
Happy HOCO Penn State! Our boys did us proud.
Here are some things you will never forget if you went to the game:
1. How utterly classless Maryland players are.
As if shaking refusing to shake our players hands at our meeting two years ago was not bad enough.
2. The refs never calling pass interference for us (In the beginning).
The boys behind me had some ridiculous chants to berate them, let's just say there was some words to be said about the ref's wife...
3. Joey Julius getting targeted every single kick-off eventually leading to Maryland’s #22, Isaiah Davis, being ejected.
I love how everyone rallied around Joey and Maryland’s coach gave that player an earful.
4. Maryland and our players getting into a fight on the field that needed broken up.
I do not believe in resorting to physical violence but I kind of loved it. They had it coming.
5. Blue Sapphire and the Nittany Lion dancing together.
They danced to Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing and even did the famous lift. I loved that, and that movie always makes me nostalgic about summertime.
6. Taking a substantial lead well into the fourth quarter.
This allowed us to put in our second string players, poor Tommy Stevens almost had a touchdown, only for it to be taken away with a holding penalty during his first time ever on the field playing quarterback for the Nittany Lions.
7. Trace McSorley
Along with his throwing skills, McSorley definitely is a running quarterback and that really bodes well with the offense we are running.
8. Saquon Barkley doing that amazing leap to escape a defender...
the man was air born enough said!
9. Cheese fries, or any food for that matter.
I usually get a hot dog, because that is the only time I allow myself to indulge in that. Even though I know everyone loves their beloved chicken baskets and it is the be all end all for some people, the cheese fries were pretty out of this world.
Happy Homecoming all Penn Staters and alums! FOR THE GLORY! WE ARE... PENN STATE!
