With the official start of summer right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about how exactly to spend your summer. There's nothing better than days spent outside in the summer sun, so I've put together 8 ways to not only spend your summer outside, but also ways that are fun, easy, and even inexpensive in most cases! The best part of exercising in the summer is it doesn't have to be inside a gym and is often more fun and doesn't even feel like exercise! Don't forget to pack the sunscreen if you'll be outside. Let's get started!

1. Ride a bike!

This will bring you back to your childhood and make you feel like a kid again. Instead of going for a leisurely ride around the neighborhood, go to a trail, it's the perfect balance between miles of exercise and beautiful views of nature. Bring a friend along to make it even more fun!

2. Take a dog for a walk!

Who doesn't love dogs?! Go for a walk with either your dog, a relative’s, or a friend's. It's a great way to soak up the sun and spend some type with a pup, what could be better?

3. Go swimming!

This one is a no-brainer, but I figured I'd mention it anyway. If you want to make the most of your swim, do a couple laps and even tread water to get a quick workout in, even race your friends!

4. Go for a hike!

This is a great way to spend the morning with friends before the summer heat is at its hottest. The view from the top will make it all worth it!

5. Plan tennis!

This is another super fun way to stay active that won't really feel like exercise. It's the perfect sport that doesn't require too much running around in the heat! Go to your local courts whether it's at your town's high school, park, country club, or tennis club. Play against your friends to make it even more fun, a little friendly competition never hurts!

6. Sign up for a workout class with friends!

There's so many classes offered at gyms which are perfect if you want to do something a little bit more fun and with a friend! Skip the typical workout machines and instead, try Zumba, kickboxing, barre, etc!

7. Try yoga!

Yoga can be extremely relaxing, and the best part is it can be done basically anywhere. Grab your mat and head to your favorite destination with an awesome view to make it even better! Spend some time alone relaxing, while still getting a great workout in!

8. Go cliff jumping, as long as it's safe!

This will most likely require some sort of hiking or walking, along with swimming! Make sure to bring some along or go where a lifeguard is. This is a great way to get in some exercise while also having an adrenaline rush!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
