Halloween is here again and for college students, that means wearing something ridiculous and probably going to a frat party or a bar. While you’re out rocking your tutu or fake beard this Halloween, here are the types of costumes you will see:
The Sexy Anything
A lot of girls use Halloween as an excuse to wear as little as possible—think of the scene from “Mean Girls” where Lindsay Lohan is a zombie ex-wife and the rest of the girls are wearing lingerie and animal ears. You’ll probably see a lot of sexy cats, sexy maids, sexy devils, and sexy nurses, police, firefighters, etc.
Superheroes and Princesses
I was at a Halloween store earlier today and believe me when I say that they’re really pushing superheroes and princesses this year. Expect to see a few ninja turtles, Batmen, Spider-men, Wonder Women and a lot of Disney princesses like Snow White and Elsa. You may even see a few poor boyfriends who were forced into dressing like Prince Charming so they could be a costume couple.
Mascots
There’s always that one guy in a full-out mascot costume that makes you spend all night wondering if he’s cute or not. Typically, they’ll either be Gumby, a Teletubbie, a gorilla or another random animal. I’m also willing to bet you’ll see at least one “left shark” this year.
Food
Besides the standard bacon and egg costumes, be ready to see some hot sauce packets, sushi rolls, bags of wine, Starbucks cups, burritos and of course, bananas.
Inanimate Objects
You know what I’m talking about. We’ve all seen someone dressed-up as a crayon, a Twister board, an electrical socket and plug, a shower loofah or some type of silverware. Any type of food can also go in this category.
The Classics
Classic Halloween costumes will never go out of style. Someone will always fall back on being either a witch, a flapper, a vampire, a pirate, a Grecian God or Goddess, a zombie and again, a superhero or princess.
Famous Characters
Every year celebrities make the news for doing something ridiculous, and every year people think it’s hilarious to dress up like them for Halloween. This year I predict the #1 pop culture costume will either be Caitlyn/Bruce Jenner, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. There will definitely be someone dressed as Miley Cyrus, along with some other popular choices like minions, Greasers, Marilyn Monroe, Napoleon Dynamite, Kesha, Harry Potter characters and anything Will Ferrell has ever done.
