If you're like me, you get excited about the holiday season much before it's socially acceptable, but if you're REALLY like me, you don't care. But because Halloween has ended, it's time to start getting pumped for the holiday season, and here are a few ways to do it:
1. Thanksgiving and Christmas TV Specials
It seems as though Thanksgiving specials lack in television, but there is a popular one that exists, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving". Other than that, there are tons of Christmas TV specials and movies that will start airing around this time of year. Use the ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas schedule as a reference. They play Christmas movies every day throughout the month of December up until Christmas!
2. Christmas Music
You will find that there are Grinches of this world that dislike Christmas music, or find it to be annoying, but don't let that stop you from blasting it whenever you want. The variations of Christmas music are basically endless with the choices from classic Christmas songs to pop renditions of older favorite Christmas songs. The possibilities are endless.
3. Holiday Light Displays
Every year, people decorate their houses (or dorm rooms) for the holidays, and some people are so creative that they look breathtaking, like they came out of a magazine. Holiday light displays are so much fun to look at, and even more fun to participate in!
4. Holiday Shopping
Spending a ton of money around the holidays is hard, especially when you're a student trying to make your own ends meet, but shopping around and looking for ideas for gifts to get for your loved ones is heartwarming. It can also help you think of some creative ideas if you're on a budget!
5. Snowfall
Be careful what you wish for because trudging around in the snow to classes will most likely be awful, but the first snowfall is always magical!
6. Red Cups at Starbucks
If you're a coffee addict like me, combined with being a Christmas fanatic, you definitely get excited about the return of red cups at Starbucks. These holiday themed cups returned on November 1st, just in time for the start of the holiday season!
7. Holiday Break
Ah yes, the best thing of the holiday season: holiday break. Not only is holiday break an amazing rest from the stress that comes with classes and college life in general, but it is much needed time to spend with friends and family to practice holiday traditions that bring you close to home. Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, the holiday season is a great time of year to remember and be grateful for what we all have, and appreciating amazing people in our lives is part of that.
