5 Things To look Forward To This Summer

My excitement for the summer is not word explainable. Growing up by the equator, heat became a daily norm to me so as you can imagine, I dreaded the few cold days that we experienced during the year. That being said, when I got the United States from Kenya I was excited, but I dreaded the cold weather that was coming my way. Keep in mind I was coming to Alabama where the winters are very mild.

Anyway I am getting a bit off topic. Now that Summer is looming, schools are closed, pools are open again and days are longer. What might make this summer different from the rest? What is so interesting about this one? I will try to get your excitement to where mine is with the answers I give to the above questions.

1. RIO 2016

Sports lovers assemble!! The Summer Olympics are here in a few days. The world's top athletes will be gathering in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to grace the world in the quadrennial games between the 2nd of August to the 15th of August. Will Usain Bolt break his record again? We just have to wait and see.

2. Game of Thrones

To be totally fair, Spring has this one, but the bulk of GOT will be in the Summer. So all GOT fans like me should be excited about this summer. What happens to Jon Snow? Will more bad luck fall on the Stark family? Summer shall tell us.

3. Political Clarity

By July we shall have two presidential candidates, instead of guessing who the ultimate two will be (Unless there is an independent). With the primaries at the 5th gear, I feel like America is watching 2 playoffs, NBA and the United States Presidential League. So let us wait for Summer to reveal the two final players, and the real battle can then be handed over to the fall.


4. Warm Sandy Beaches


Okay, these are available every summer, but what I think makes this summer special is the fact that the winter was milder than most people are accustomed to. That may mean that the summer will be really hot. So, take a drive to the nearest beach and enjoy the seaside sunsets and even use the ocean waters to cool down.


5. Pool Parties

One request people, please get in the pool during pool parties. For a long time I wondered, why is it that when I go to a pool party the pool does not even get a ripple? Then a friend of mine told me, "Oh! That's just how it is." Then why not call it a 'party by the pool?" If you call it a pool party, be one with the pool and get in. Enjoy the barbecue, beer and hot dogs and all the up tempo music.
