With the upcoming presidential election, many American people feel forced to choose the lesser of two evils. Republican front-runner Donald Trump proposes strong ideas, leaving people either 100 percent on-board or completely in the dust. Though some of his ideas may sound promising, here are five astonishing reasons why you should not vote him into office.
1. Trump should advocate for the American people, not bully them.
We all remember the press conference held in November just last year where Trump intentionally mocked a disabled reporter. The act turned many Trump supporters away and created confusion among the American people. When Trump later attempted to justify his actions in an interview, he claimed that he was only imitating reporters in general, not just the man with the disability. Bullying the press is not any better. Not only does ridiculing people seem immature and unprofessional, but it also displays that Trump will not advocate for all groups of people. America needs a president who will respect all American people and advocate for everyone as a whole. Trump’s repeated offenses display his unwillingness to improve, therefore he cannot handle becoming president.
2. Racism is no longer welcome in America.
Although Trump may not outwardly proclaim he is a racist, his actions prove otherwise. Growing up in the Trump real estate business, it’s no wonder he would support white ethnicities first and foremost. The press, upon investigating, discovered that the family often denied other ethnicities homes, stating that no vacant properties existed, despite the fact that they did. In the present, Trump supports Caucasians more than minorities in his various businesses and his employment records prove so. People consistently observe the forced removal of minorities in Trump’s presence. There is a reason Trump has caught the eye of so many white supremacists, and it is not a good one. In the 1960s, the American people strived to achieve civil rights and equality for all races. Trump, if elected, may reverse the progress people worked so hard to finally get. All of our dedication and perseverance will have been for nothing.
3. One step forward and two steps back: Trump’s path to women’s rights.
On the issue of feminism, Trump explains that he does not take gender into account when hiring or firing his employees. This may be true. However, in various books, Trump refers to women in an animalistic way. He dissects the nature of women, saying that they portray themselves as weak and dainty, but are strong when it comes to sexual drive. He implies that women consistently deceive men in order to get what they want. He goes on to explain the sexual potential women possess in contrast to the stereotypical role they are given in comparison to men. Trump thinks women are empowered sexually, but disregards intellectual skills they may have. By emphasizing women’s rights on a physical level, Trump fails to empower women on an intellectual level. Through doing this, he particularly demeans women who might not fit the typical mold for beauty, but possess brilliant minds. These women play a significantly large role in our country. Physicality should not be the basis of our society, especially when it comes to women’s rights. Rights should be given to all women equally, despite their appearance or sexual drive. Women are not animals, therefore they should not be treated as if they are.
4. Trump’s attempt to cease immigration.
Many agree with Trump on the issue of immigration because of his promises to build a wall along the southern US border. Though the wall would significantly increase the deficit if built by America, Trump seems to think he can force Mexico to pay for all of the expenses. If America builds a wall of division, it contradicts the original goal of this country. Our ancestors were immigrants, and without them, we wouldn’t be here. We are the land the free, and home of the brave. By strictly monitoring who we let into the country, we are limiting what made America great in the first place. No longer will we abide in peace and create allies with foreign countries because we will be too concerned with maintaining them. Furthermore, attempting to control another country’s spending will only increase tensions, potentially shaping another war. Is war and tension really what we want right now? Trump’s approach to building the wall will cause massive damage to America. Though it may benefit a select few, Trump’s wall will create an inevitable mess.
5. Trump poses a threat to foreign countries.
Many countries, including Russia, have already pledged to take immediate action in the event that Trump becomes president. Trump does not take his role seriously when encountering world organizations, such as the UN. He wants to push others around to get what he wants. Other world leaders seek compromise, not win or lose. With Trump’s inability to compromise, we will be a worldwide target for a number of international threats. Trump may seem like an alright guy, or a mediocre businessman, but he would make a less than desirable president. Voting for him would create a domino effect on the international level avalanching toward chaos.
These are only a few of the reasons why you should not vote for Trump. Trump, though occasionally intriguing, fills his arguments with lies and deceitful promises, which can be proven through a fairly simple fact check. Trump as president would end in absolute disaster.
