49 Reasons To Stay Alive
Brehan kunkelman

It was a Thursday night/morning. At 4:30am I was scrolling through Tumblr trying to find posts to motivate me and keep me going, that's when I came across someone's list to stay alive (which was very inspiring), however I wanted to make it more personal, something everyone could relate to instead of just the usual "stay alive because you'll make a difference."

1. Discovering yourself

Believe it or not, everyone struggles to find themselves (even David Bowie took some time to figure out what he wanted to do with his music). It won't come to you right away, god no. But trust me when I say it's going to be worth the wait because as soon as you feel the warmth travel your body and you get that "Ah-Ha!" moment, you know you just know. It's a feeling you'll never get back snd it's something you definitely don't want to miss out on!

2. How silly people get when their sleepy.

This is one of my favorites. You never get along better when you and your siblings are laughing hysterically over a small little event because of sleep deprivation. You will never have a better time with your best friend(s) than. When you're up at 4am making jokes or doing ridiculous things. And that random person you had just met, you get to laugh your ass off at their silliness. Tell me, who would want to miss out on that.

3. Long hugs.

Long hugs from family, friends, lovers, celebrities, idols, they are all meaningful hugs. No hug is better than when you're holding the other person and they hold you for just a second longer. There is something in a long hug. There is passion, security, comfort, gentleness. Don't miss out on long hugs, someone will miss yours.

4. Baby animals.

There is mo one person on this Earth that can say they despise baby animals. Baby animals are so pure and innocent and adorable AF. You know that feeling you get when you hold a kitten? Or when you scroll past a picture of a baby otter on Facebook? Your heart does an "awe"and your belly fills with warm goodness. Why would you want to lose that happiness?

5. Singing.

Weather you are alone, or with friends nothing stops you from singing Hollaback Girl when it comes onto the shuffle at the top of your lungs. Sing it loud and sing it proud. You only get one shot because we are NOT replaying the song.

6. Picnics.

Get out there, outback, to the park, by the lake, to the ocean, or on that mountain. Get there with your family, friends, or lover. Get there and enjoy the moment. Enjoy the beauty, the peace.

7. Blankets/towels right out of the dryer

8. Water balloon fights.

The thrill and rush of throwing sacs of water at other. They end way too quickly but the moment of defeating your dad stays.

9. Making babies smile.

Babies are so carefree but also whiny as heck! So making them smile while they are crying is an accomplishment. It's a proud moment you never want to let go of.

10. Lifetime movie marathon.

I don't care who you are. Nobody can resist a lifetime movie. Curling up on the couch with some food and LMN is guaranteed to be a great night, even if you're alone!

11. Those "whats said in this room stays in this room moments"

I don't think I need to say more

12. Drinking hot drinks.

It's a crisp December night. The snow is gently falling at 3am and you're sipping on your favorite hot drink letting it fill you with warmth and happiness.

13. Binge watching a tv series.

Supernatural

14. Meeting new people

You know when you're out with a cluster of strangers at a show or concert, meet and greet, whatever; and you just connect with random strangers? I remember at Warped Tour 2014 in line to meet Damon fizzy my little sister and I met two wonderful girls and traded numbers. Strangers can be great.

15. Naps.

So you've had a rough day, does that mean you give up? Hell no! Go take a nap and wake up feeling refreshed!

16. Road trips.

You never know what's going to happen during one of these. It's a good idea to stay alive and feel the adventure ❤️

17. Rainstorms.

For once the world is more angry than you can be. But just listening to the rain falling on the window and the thunder rumbling can be the most relaxing moment ever.

18. Late night phone calls.

This is when all truth comes out. Everyone is revealing their true selves and weaknesses. There's no time more amazing than when it's just the teo of you awake sharing secrets and opening your hearts. It seems risky but take it.

19. Cuddles.

Honestly. The best cuddles are from family. You don't need a partner when you have the true love of a little sibling or cousin.

20. Crazy things with your best friend(s).

Think of all the memories you have now. Don't you want to develop more?

21. Kind comment from strangers.

If you can't bring yourself up today, at least allow that stranger in the grocery story tell you or pretty your hair is or how they love your superhero shirt.

22. Cry laughter.

You can't deny, you love that laugh with tears streaming down your face and you literally feel abs forming. Plus laughter cures everything. So laugh till you cry!

23. Doodles.

Coloring and any type of drawing is a great way to relieve stress. Doodle how you're feeling, who you want to punch, or draw a kitty.

24. Making other people happy.

This one I love. Everyone is dealing with their demons. You never know, and it's such a wonderful feeling knowing you can make someone smile or feel better when they feel like breaking.

25. Sleeping in.

Sleep is also one of the best medicines. You've been dealing with a lot this week, take an hour or two to sleep in this morning.

26. Books.

"When you read a book, you hold another's mind in your hands." I found that quote on Tumblr. It's all you need.

27. Sweaters and sweatpants

28. Full moons.

29. Crunchy leaves

30. Seeing yourself recover.

I know you're struggling now. I know how badly you want it all to end. But keep fighting because trust me, the feeling of "Hey, i did it. I survived" is better than feeling of nothingness after death.

31. Concerts.

Your idol. Music. The trill and beat in your chest. And great people surrounding you. But more importantly your favorite musician.

32. Stargazing.

33. Secrets and promises.

There's a special bond and trust built with that person and it's something/someone you need. Who will your best friend be able to trust without you? No one that's who.

34. Knowing every lyric to a song.

I was never more proud of myself than when I learned all the words to Paul Rever by the Beastie Boys.

35. The smell after rain

36. Handwritten letters.

Those are something special.

37. Halloween.

Cool weather. Costumes. Candy. Cute happy children. Candy. Ghosts. Haunted houses. Candy.

38. Sunrises.

As I'm writing this I see the sun coming up and I'm thinking, "Crap! Is that the sun already?!". But you shouldn't think that. Do what my little sister does, go outside and sit alone or with someone special and admire the sun.

40. Sunsets.

You can't deny that view. Everyone loves sunsets that's why they take pictures.

41. Music.

Music literally speaks to you. It will be the only thing that never leaves you. Hold onto it.nobody understands you like your favorite song.

42. Video games.

Any gaming geek will tell you "game is life" ( skyrim is life. So is ps4). Just pick up a controller and enter a world you've never been to.

43. Sitting on rooftops.

There is just something in that moment that makes time stop. You're overlooking your hometown and the world seems to be dead.

44. Laying in the grass.

45. Kisses on the cheek from children.

46. Messy hair.

Imagine your crush in the morning with messy bed head. Live to see it!

47. When you can't stop smiling.

48. You matter.

You may not think it or believe it. But you matter in this world. Someone needs you, someone in this world believes you are their world. You may hold the cure to cancer or have the power to "make america great again". YOU MATTER.

49. You will be missed.

Family, friends, lovers, the usual customer, your co-workers. They will never have the same day. They will spend every moment missing you. Thinking about what conversation you guys would have or what adventure you'd encounter.

At the end of the day. Everything is a reason to live. Make a list, find things that motivate you and keep fighting. If I can beat self-harm, an eating disorder, and suicidal thoughts you can too. I love you. Someone loves you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
