With everything going on in the world today, it's easy to get lost in the negativity. We often fail to remember how there's actually good in the world, believe it or not. People wrote in about the nicest thing anyone's ever done for them; some big, some small, all meaningful in their own way. Faith has been restored in humanity!

“I was sixteen and I was at the gas station after I had just gotten my license. My tank was on empty so I went inside to the clerk and realized I had no money in my wallet. I couldn’t pay for it and I started to panic and cry until the guy behind me said to the clerk, ‘put twenty dollars on her pump.’ I cried even more and he just reassured me to get home safe.” -27

“One time this guy was being really mean to me. My best friend took her soda and threw it in his face. We’ve been best friends for eighteen years.” -20

“It was night, and I was on the beach, crying. Just above me, the boardwalk bustled with vacationers. A family, led by the father who clutched a huge teddy bear, stopped at the railing. The father noticed me and said, ‘Look at the stars, the moon!’ I knew he wanted me to be happy.” -Unknown

“My friends surprised me with a buffalo chicken dip ‘cake’ last year for my birthday. They also attempted to sing to me in Korean.” -20

“My dear friend bought a canoe and told me what it looked like. Upon hearing me say how much I had always wanted to find a canoe like that, he drove a few hours to pick it up and delivered it to my house and said 'it is yours'.” -53

"One day I was really upset at work. My boss walked by and saw me trying to keep my composure at my computer. She called me into her office to let me know she was there to talk anytime. She said, 'I got your back, kid.'" -24

"I had to go to a mandatory event at school and it was POURING. Like downpour, monsoon, hurricane. The event ended up being canceled, so I had to turn right around and walk home. I didn't have a book bag or a purse or anything so my phone was soaked in my pocket, buzzing, telling me it had water damage. I was waiting to cross the street and a kid next to me put his umbrella over my head and said, 'I think you need this more than me.' It was so cute like right out of a movie. He walked me halfway home under the umbrella before having to turn for his car. Still the sweetest thing ever." -22

“Before coming to college my family took a vacation to the Dominican Republic and my boyfriend went to Delaware with his family. It was the longest we’d ever been apart. I was hoping he’d be on his way home after I arrived back but he wasn’t answering any of my texts. A little while later he surprised me by showing up at my door with flowers.” -20

“Those close to me stood by me during the lowest time of my life.” -21

“My best friend from high school called me about something small that reminded him of me. Even though we’re all away, everyone’s off working hard and doing their own thing, we haven’t forgotten about each other. That’s the best feeling.” -19

“Whenever anyone buys me food.” -20

"One time I posted something less than happy on social media. My friend drove miles to my apartment, picked me up, and took me to the beach." -23

“When I fell on the track during a race because I was injured, my teammate stopped and helped me 100 meters to the finish line even though she would have beat me and won the race” -Unknown

“Before I went away to college, my family got together and had a going-away brunch in my honor. They each had a handwritten note with their favorite thing about me and read each one aloud to me.” -20

“My friend threw me a surprise party at our other friend’s house for my 21st birthday. She got my other roommates in on it and even though I was late because I was napping, she got all our friends there, bought me a nice present, got my 'little' and my ‘twin' from my sorority there too. It made my 21st special because none of my friends could go out with me because they were all still underage.” -22

“My friend’s boyfriend brought me Ben & Jerry’s after I had a really bad day.” -20

“When those who supported and prayed for me in time of need.” -Unknown

“Someone walked me home, out of their way, from a party late at night to make sure I didn’t get hurt.” -21

"I was alone in New York, four hours from home, taking a last-minute train ride to meet my dad halfway, in New Jersey. I had no idea what I was doing and had more bags than limbs. A businessman sitting near me could see I was upset and helped me carry my bags, showed me where to buy the right ticket, delivered me to the right platform and waited with me until I was safely on my train." -20

“When my family traveled six hours in an RV to meet my daughter.” -49

“My parents giving up so much just to bring me into the world.” -20

“Probably any gift my former wife gave me for Christmas, birthdays, or Father’s day. She always put so much thought into each one. Second to that, years ago, my good friend’s parents took me with them on their family vacation to Mexico.” -57

“I had such a bad day that I cried, stayed in bed, and didn’t answer my phone. My best friends all met up, bought my favorite things, and broke into my room to cheer me up. It worked.” -21

"One time in 5th grade I accidentally threw my glasses out. The recess aid dug through the dumpster for me and found my glasses. My dad also did the same recently when I accidentally threw out a full pack of birth control." -Unknown

“I borrowed a pen from the kid next to me in class. At the end of class, he told me to keep it so I wasn’t scrambling for a pen for the rest of the day.” -22

“The night before a date, my boyfriend took my keys without me knowing, cleaned my car, filled my tank with gas for our date, got an oil change and brought it back the next day with breakfast. The surprise of having those little things taken care of was one of the nicest things someone's ever done for me.” -22

"My boyfriend at the time (now husband) paid off the last chunk of my student loan debt with his savings." -28

"I was desperately living paycheck to paycheck for a little while and half-jokingly mentioned to people how I would take any food off of anyone's hands. A girl handed me a box of pasta, homemade sauce, cheese and two cans of beans. It fed me until my next paycheck. I cried." -20

“During my sophomore year of college, I was in a toxic relationship. It was Valentine's Day and I never felt lonelier despite dating someone. He begrudgingly made plans with me although I knew he didn't want to spend the time or the money. The day of, he didn't do anything special, he didn't even talk to me. I was running an errand for my boss when I got a text to immediately return to the office. Fearing I was in trouble, I turned back. When I got back to the office, a guy playing guitar started to serenade me with "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. At the end, he said "Happy Valentine's Day! We love you!" My friends knew I was feeling terrible and they sent a Valentine's serenade to my office and it made me feel so special. I'll never forget how loved they made me feel.” -Unknown

"My boyfriend sent me flowers simply for coming home from a 48-hour work trip. It was so hilariously unmerited, and that's why it was so sweet." -26

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
